Efteling: General Discussion

Efteling's Aquanura on acid... The Tiësto - Aquanura (or: Tiëstonura) show went on premiere, Tuesday night. The show will be used during events as New Year's Eve and Efteling's Nine Square Fest during the Summer period.

I have to say compared to the previous Aquanura shows thats bloody awful!

Did Tiesto mix that himself? If he did, he must have been off his face at the time. (I once heard Ferry Corsten play a set while completely battered. It was not his best work.)

Doesh craishee Dutsch! :p

I quite like it actually. It fits with the atmosphere on the days on which it will be used and, although the beginning is not too good, music wise, the end is pretty good. It must be hard to mix approximately 10 songs from a very limited selection in a mix of twelve minutes. Maybe Armin van Buuren would have done a better job, as he has more experience with these kind of things, but I'm not too sure about that.

Mother of Wardley.

Tiesto has lost the plot, I could listen to seconds before I had to turn it off!!

Is that the actual proper production sound as well because if so it's absolutely diabolical?

@Alastair is likely to give me a load for this, but they should have called IMAScore lol!! ;)

:D

I really like it.

Obviously the music is crap because it's 90s Eurotrash - that's what Tiësto does. But that doesn't stop it being a fun, camp knees-up, like DJ Bobo is at EP. It's very silly but you'd probably get into it if you were there.

Obviously no artist with credibility would score a theme park show, but it'd be great to see what someone like Caribou or Rustie could do with this opportunity.

What the hell is Samuel Barber's 'Adagio' doing in there?!

Tiesto's remix of Agadio for Strings is by far the better of the two famous ones. I actually rather like it.

Is that in there? I didn't listen long enough.

I do think William Orbit's version is class too, it had that classic 90s trance feel. Tiesto's version is more powerful.

Is that just a DJ mix from Tiesto then?

just gonna leave this here:

Nah, I never liked the William Orbit one. It's too depressing, which is fine in the original work, as that is it's intention. But hearing that when you are mid rave is the kind of thing that sends you crashing down faster than a plane with no wings. ;)

It's not often you see so much thematic work before the main coaster sections start going up!

Also, RCT3Bross on TPR has made a map of the placement of footers around the site and subsequently a potential layout:

:)

The Making of Baron 1898 has been put online by Efteling, the project team are doing so well with keeping its construction on track, the shots of the park in Winter are sublime too.

If that layout is accurate it looks more and more like it's going to be a short, benign European mini-dive machine.

Thank god for its theming.

It was never going to be anything but a baby Dive Machine, the day Efteling get a 200ft monster coaster is the day they lose the plot (as in beyond spending €30 million on a show)...

Even then, having a giant B&M is slightly against Efteling's usual method of things...

And even then, the mini-DMs are still solid, fun coasters, if it's anywhere near as successful as Krake was for Germany then it will be a winner, especially with Efteling's added story-telling and theming...
