New RMC Concept - TRex Track

RMC (Rocky Mountain Construction) have releaved a new coaster type that they have been working on to Theme Park Review.
RMC to TPR said:
Robb, here are some photos and new renderings of our new TRex track for you to share with your group. This is essentially a monorail type coaster, all steel.
We have just produced the one piece of red track in the photos so far. We have a lot of interest in this coaster track system, so there will be coasters built in the near future utilizing this track and cars. Just can't say where or when... You know the drill

Come visit us at IAAPA this year, we'll have some the renderings to show and we can chat more about this new ride system!

A very interesting concept, it will be great to hear more about it at IAAPA in November and see what exactly it has the potential to do.

RMC do seem to be leading coaster innovation at present though.

The idea is that it is practically self supporting, so large spans can be crossed with only a few supports, reducing costs

I suppose there is that. I'd be interested to know how smooth the ride is.
 
While I don't want to make a huge thing of it, I would like to point out that my final year uni project which looked at making coasters more affordable, quieter and easier to construct ended up producing a concept that was very similar to this:

Your project was the first thing I thought of when I found out about this RMC new design.

I think it looks awesome and visually striking. Should help more parks able to afford larger steel coasters due to cost saving on supports and footers.

An update on some new RMC concepts!

I didn't seem to post about it at time but as well as the TRex Track concept, there is a smaller variation known as the Raptor coaster. RMC say that, "The Raptor coaster will fit perfectly into smaller parks looking for new thrills to entice patrons as "well as large parks that need to maximize space while opening new attractions to invigorate sales." They've also shown that it will utilise trains with single seat cars:

RMC have also just announced their new compact wooden coaster. It uses the samer topper track as their standard wooden coasters but can be faster and cheaper. RMC say that they, "...have developed a compact version of their renowned wooden mega coasters. This coaster has all the extreme and exhilarating elements of a typical mega wooden RMC, but is manufactured in a fraction of the time and for a fraction of the price. Now parks that typically could not afford a mega RMC ride, have the opportunity to own a renowned RMC wooden coaster."

They've also hinted on Facebook that we could be seeing at least one of these concepts in 2017.

Another little update on this, turns out that the Raptor Track in production was actually for a test layout at RMC's factory:

"R&D test track of our new single rail Raptor coaster at our shop! When complete, we will have 500' of Raptor track installed ready for testing, complete with several newly designed cars."

I think it's fair to say beyond any reasonable doubt that this is the future of rollercoaster track. It outshines B&M's design in every way.

Not only major cost saving in both materials and labour, but the ride on that type of track must be buttery smooth.
