Nemesis Sub-Terra: "Ongoing Maintenance"

I just find it strange when it's meant to be a military facility that's welcoming the public to view a discovery. If we were becoming recruits then the shouting makes sense, but as a guest/visitor to a military site the shouting doesn't make any sense at all.

You must not know any ex military people then, they shout at you all the time for the most mundane things haha :D

"WELCOME TO MY HOUSE!! SIT YOUR SKINNY BUM DOWN!! DO YOU WANT A CUP OF TEA??? MILK AND TWO SUGARS ON THE DOUBLE!! ....AND STIR, 2, 3, 4, STIR, 2, 3, 4!!"

Err... glass of lemonade will be fine, ta.

The army don't shout at civilians unless they are about to shoot them.

As James pointed out, being shouted at by members of an organisation for accepting an invitation to see what they've discovered makes no sense, but the reason I hadn't bothered doing Sub Terra for ages back when it was actually running is that I'd decided it makes even less sense to base a theme park attraction around an ABC tower ride, and on repeat rides it becomes a chore; a hurried, almost stressful experience.

At the Dungeon midways Extremis (forget the inferior Drop Dead) where it's installed is a nice bonus and concludes your visit with a quick thrill. At a theme park though a titchy little ABC tower compares poorly to a proper drop tower if installed as just a drop ride, and as part of a more experience-based attraction like Sub Terra I don't think it's a substantial enough piece of hardware to really satisfy guests or justify the faff of boarding it. In Sub Terra's case you get on, things go wrong almost immediately, you drop, you rise back up, and that's that over and done with in probably less time than it takes to get everybody sat down and lower the bars. It still doesn't get around the problem of the ride not doing much, but that room could possibly be improved to some extent with a longer build up to the drop, with a bit more information given on the egg and more little signs that something isn't right to steadily build tension before it hatches. As it is I feel like there should be more going on to warrant the effort of getting you in there.

Then there's the hassle of it all. You're shouted at. You feel like you're rushed into the lifts, then rushed to your seats in the egg chamber. You're screeched at right into your ears and thwacked in the legs by rubber tubing. You're rushed out of the chamber by the countdown and noise. The second lift shakes about in a laughable manner and makes more loud noises. The exit path makes more pointless noise, and of course makes less sense now without actors than it did when it had actors that themselves made no sense. When you've done it a few times and got used to it it's not enjoyable, just unpleasant, and with the high staffing costs I really can't imagine it'll stick around much longer.

I always wondered why they bothered with it.
To me once you've been on it once and you know the drill it's a bit pointless going on again just for the sake of a tiny drop and a poke in the kidneys.. Even less so without the actors.

Shut up Alice.... Only cos you're scared! I'm gonna force you on it if it's open!

No can't see it opening before scarefest but it could open for scarefest but it has been down for a while so may suggest some major upgrades.

I was there during the week cant see that anything has been done to it at all, now this could be because they are waiting for parts or it could just be because its never going to get fixed, I do hope they will do something with it and soon

ABC rides must be terrible at manufacturing and distributing parts then. Considering it's been closed since... I can't remember.

exactly, not sure why all of a sudden they decided they needed to change the restraints on this but not other rides they have that are the same, example the drop ride at the London dungeons that i was at on sunday

It's strange for them to want to go through the hassle of changing restraints on a ride that everyone seams to hate. And after spending the money..... Not opening it.

For a 4 mil investment it probably won't have made a return for merlin and the new restraints seem to be a waste of money considering all the profit warnings but whatever floats merlins boat.

It's been closed now for about 2 months. Add another month around the Smiler crash when it originally had work done to it and then add another month after they changed the restraints and then had to do it again. So it's been closed pretty much all season.

It must now be cost cutting. What ever was wrong with it wont have taken two months to fix or even to get parts for it, especially when ABC are still around and still make these rides.

Towers probably spent a fortune fixing it this season. Then the park has been that dead they have just thought they will keep it closed and save the money.

The ride requires about 6 staff just to run.
