Wait a minute... I'm probably looking way to deep into that image, but in the Background that's peeking heights and kobra... isn't that where the new rides going next year??

I think next year is more a medium investment year in the park as according to a realised article through Merlin's sales suggests 2017 will be a high investment year for the park.

Back to 2016, the new high ropes will apparently be going near the south car park on newly purchased land and it is expected the large one will take up to three hours to complete, which sounds like it'll be quite a large scale addition.

As for Glamping that's going on the field new Wild Asia whilst the new ride as mentioned is going where the games were, I have no idea however what this attraction will be however.

Sounds like a pay extra attraction for hotel guests and park guests. 3 hours to me suggests that they are trying to encourage people to do the high ropes in the morning and go to the park afternoon and that would drive up the number of hotel guests. Sounds very much like a profit maximisation strategy.

Will a large 2017investment at chessington mean SW8 is delayed, because on that same document it says heide park is getting a major investment in 2917 as well :/

I thought Heide was the same as Chessington so maybe everything on the LTDP has been pushed back by a year.

I think all the large scale plans seem to be in different years now than they used to, Thorpes got delayed, it seems towers has been delayed so it wouldn't surprise me if Cheasingtons has changed. And with the Smiler crash that has probably changed things even more.

I just looked at that. It’s interesting to see that 2015 is still classed as a capex year for Legoland. I thought it might have been downgraded after they cancelled the Haunted House. And next year’s classed as a minor year for the park, but again, I hope they’re still hoping to build something big if they can get planning permission (anyone know how that’s going?)

I realise the lack of a major new ride isn’t Merlin’s fault, and the park seems to be doing pretty well without one. I’d even argue that the soft improvements this year are very welcome, but still…

As for Chessington, I’m pleased to hear about the high ropes course. Aside from Alton Towers, I’d say that Chessington now has the most developed ‘resort’ side to any UK attraction, ahead of Drayton Manor, Flamingo Land etc. The high ropes course, combined with character breakfasts, indoor water play centre, late openings of Wanyama and Amazu, do make Chessington feel like a complete package for anyone wanting a short break.

But they really do need to come up with something special in 2017. They still have a decent theme park, but development’s been lethargic at best, live entertainment is really not that great for a park of such stature, they lack events, and the park is feeling very corporate. Throughputs have become a major problem, while they literally fill half the seats with people from Fast Track and exit queues.

To be fair I’ll still visit Chessington. Vampire is still as good as any family coaster in the country. Tomb and Bubble Works are still amongst the biggest dark rides. But next year they’re going to have a real job competing with Paultons.

For Alton, a wooden coaster could be a medium investment if it doesn't cost too much depending on any technology... Outlaw run cost 6.5 million in pounds, which is closer on average to Altons small investments to large investments (they've been over 15 million for the past two 'large' and I've heard CBeebies land cost around 8 million and I believe that's a medium investment, octonauts small, next year medium by the sounds of things and 2017 being medium in cost, but being a major ride. I think the small medium large is more to do with the cost than how big the ride is and how major and important it is. Failing sw8 being a coaster in 2017, please completely change the CATCF building, I doubt they'd renew it.

That's nice, but this is the Chessington topic. ;)

Oops, got a bit carried away :p I do reckon the chessington major investment could be a thrill ride are large scale coaster, first new coaster since dragons fury (no, re themes and zamperla disk'o 'coasters' don't count ;)).

Please excuse me whilst I laugh, but according to Chessington Buzz they are getting one of these next year...

Wow! If true, is it too late for them to get a refund?

:)

What! One of them! Just why? Didn't they learn that battle galleons gets no queue? Do they realise that we live in England and these rides are unacceptable?

And I see no way that can be fun. At least battle galleons has theming. all that is is soaking other people for no reason. Please no. Just no.

That will help them fill all those hotel rooms. They’re not giving their marketing department much to work with, are they? You can’t expect an amazing new ride every year, but this feels like a waste of money. I wonder whether they’d be better off spending the money adding theming back to Dragon Falls, or plussing Bubble Works or Tomb Blaster. They could use the money to theme Vampire’s queue or upgrade Vampire to improve the throughput. They could repaint some of the tattier rides like Black Buccaneer.

It feels like one of those rides they’ve added to give them something to put on the website, but it feels a bit pointless. I can’t see it adding much to anyone’s day. If that's all they can afford, surely better to spend the money elsewhere. Alternatively they could have added some kind of kiddie coaster with no height restriction. It'd have a low throughput, but at least it'd be something people would want to queue for.
