Towers Loving Care

Isn't the track supposed to be the thing containing the monster (in which case rust makes sense)? That's at least the interpretation given by the Sub Terra preshow video...

Track is the tentacles. Supports the steel pinning it down.

Still, the track looks good like that regardless in my opinion and i'm usually one for continuity. Plus, its about time it had a drastic makeover. The ride is 22 years old for gods sake!

:)

Really? As the Sub Terra video says something like "Phalanx immediately mobilised their extreme security division to pin down and disable it (the monster)" - whilst showing the track being lifted into place around the monster...

I always thought the track was the tentacles as it got pinned down and you could ride around them, for reasons I'm still not entirely sure of lol!

Southern Comfort I think :D

To me it doesn't look like rust. It looks like they've tried to continue the new organic look the station has, and when viewed as a whole will probably work quite well.

To be honest I think everyone that's moaning about this would probably still be unsatisfied even if they had managed to perfectly copy the original paint scheme. This is probably the highest standard we've ever seen a ride being painted in the UK, I've seen less detail in some of Europa Park and Disneys paint jobs.

What's more the original paint was hardly a masterpiece. It was good for what they could do at the time, but the fact there's always been confusion as to if the track is part of the monster or not shows they could have done more to tell them apart. When I fist saw Nemesis I didn't instantly think "that's an alien in a pit" but if I saw it now I might be convinced.

People seem to moan for the sake of moaning.
It doesn't matter what AT do someone will still moan, to me this paint job looks awesome, the fact it's had this paint job was a surprise to everyone but the attention to detail is more than most expected and AT should be commended for the efforts here on a 22 year old ride
Whether it's the same as the original is a bit pointless imo because everybody has a different view of the same situation (it's not like it's being done by the original people)
The fact it's being done and to a high level of detail should be the most important thing.

Well done Towers for the maintenance on Nemesis. Lets be honest, they have to keep it looking and running good, its the only ride which continues to pull people to the park every year at the moment! Good to see they are taking care of it.

Exactly this! Yes it is Nemesis, and I know that some people think that nothing with Nemesis should ever be changed because it is Nemesis. And I do get that, there is a lot of attachment with the ride. But take away the subjective nature of that and look at it objectively. Two photos, what looks better?

Photo 1 (must have been taken between 1994 and 1996) - relatively dirty looking track and station:

Photo 2 (2016) - following TLC, track painted inline with the awesome new station paint:

Yes it is a bit different but so is the station and that looks better than it ever has. The new track paint work is clearly done to match the station (people were moaning that the track was going to be left white which would have been more ala 1994 once it got a bit dirty, and now people are moaning that they've added detail that fits in with the new station). A lot has changed since 1994, including no doubt methods of painting coaster track. It looks to me that they are painting the track with the same details as in 1994 but an updated use of colour. And I think it certainly looks more alien that it ever did.

:)

Found on the Decorators Facebook link that was posted in the Extraordinary Golf thread.

Woodcutters interior is now a nasty shade of pink https://www.facebook.com/CartersDec...8027652002051/649866975151447/?type=3&theater

Thats just awful! I didn't even like the interior as it was, always looked a bit like a weatherspoons tbh. Now I'm just speechless. Those canvases and little artefacts just look out of place, although I acknowledge that its an attempt at theming. My local has more theming than that!:

Take a hint Towers.

;)

I thought the old decor when it was Rita Ribs was just fine, it was dark reds and neutral colours if I remember right. They then added some saws to the walls to try and theme it to the Dark Forest and that seemed a bit of a small thing, but looked OK.
But the artwork doesn't even try and fit with the theme and that strange pink colour is a very odd choice. A dark Rita red would be fine, with other walls in a lighter colour so it isn't too dark.

How anyone can be confused as to whether or not the track is tentacles is beyond me. For starters check the old photos posted above, not only to do track and monster perfectly match (its the supports which don't, massive hint that they aren't part of it), then you also have the fact there is a ton of fake B&M track emerging from the monster at all angles. You're not paying attention. Do you even have eyes?

I know a lot of pubs and restaurants like this up my way too. It's pretty dire that Merlin can't even achieve this basic standard in their THEME parks.

Clearly Merlin's interpretation is that the track is the thing containing the monster. Do you have eyes, or have you just not seen the Sub Terra preshow which I mentioned above, that so obviously puts across that perspective? Why are you so persistently negative? Is there actually anything possible for the park to do which won't elicit a hugely condescending, sarcastic response detailing faults that simply aren't present? Why are you even an enthusiast?

The track IS the monster, thats why there are extra track-like tenticles coming out of the station monster. The ride supports are pinning it down. However it is frequently thought that the track is what is pinning the monster down, so much so that nobody seems to know what the original story is anymore. I have a VHS of the original story, but I don't have a VHS player!

Either way, I don't think its worth arguing about. The track looks great and I see it as blood/skin not rust colour.

In relation to Nemesis I think the track is the bone-like spine that runs across the roof of the station and then joins onto the lifthill and breakrun at either end, as well as its legs at either side which turn into pieces of fake track. The aliens tentacles are dark red so it's definitely not them, unless the alien is half chameleon.

Yes, in the Sub-Terra pre-show video it does show them pinning down the monster with the track pieces, but I don't really think you can look to Sub-Terra as an accurate reference to the original story when it depicts the monster as a boiled egg laying crab.

That's my 20p's worth anyway.

Not sure if I prefer the way it looked in 1994 or now but my word they've done a great job with the repaint either way. I'm guessing it's meant to carry on the new more organic, fleshy pink look they've given the station, and I think it works. If it's meant to look like rust, it works too. Think with colouring the rails for the first time is supposed to make it look less metallic too. There's clearly been a lot of thought and effort put into it and for once it's hard to find fault other than the obvious shame it's being phased.

Woodcutters though, come on. What the hell?

I love how so many people can come to a conclusion over one photo. Certainly you can tell the quality of this is very high. Whether it's alien tentacles or rusty steel, well, that's down to interpretation at the moment until we see what the ride looks like as a whole repainted.

Woodcutters looks as generic as always. I'm not bothered by the colour scheme, it's still a generic restaurant. I always imagined Woodcutters being themed as this kind of industrial machine, that fights (or fought) through the ever growing and living Dark Forest. Shame Dark Forest is far from dark and Woodcutters is soulless. Not something that can be fixed under this scheme sadly.
