Sonic Spinball - 2014 and Beyond

I'm totally in the group that would say put an indoor coaster in Coaster Corner as said above. As much as many on here saying that it is important to have a flume ride within a major park, I believe that an indoor coaster is a must too for any park. There's just something about an enclosed coaster in the dark that's always got so much potential of what you can do with it.

I do quite like Sonic, but it really is in the wrong location, lacks any kind of theme and just sticks out and looks ugly.

I say move it elsewhere on park, best place would be in coaster corner inside a building, like PhantasiaLand, so not just Sonic in a building, but lots of other little rides dotted around Sonic. Then you can extend CCL (or create a new area) and you won't need to worry about noise as it will be inside.

Then on the Sonic site either extend CBeebies land, or create a new area with something else.

I would imagine it would fit in quite well down near Enterprise / Smiler or in cloud cuckoo land if they have room.

Disney Paris have a version of the ride in the dark as well - Crush Coaster.

Extending Cbeebies land really would be in there interest as well. Its been a big success with families but I don't think there is a lot to make you have repeat visit unless your kids are ready for some of the other rides at AT like the mine train / blade.

Even if you removed Enterprise, it won't fit in X Sector. I don't think it would fit in CCL either.

I'm not sure if current layout would work indoors, would be better designing a new indoor coaster from scratch and keeping Spinball! As once indoors the thrilling sections may not feel as thrilling as your perception of speed and height is different in the dark.

I've just remembered I brought this up 4 years ago, a point which @Tim thoroughly dismissed out of hand further down the page ;)

Im a fan of sonic Spinball but if it was to be moved it would surely need a theme overhall

Just thinking about it moving (and I know none of this will happen) but if they were to move it to somewhere (which would probably be the space behind duel, or a currently unused space like coaster corner), to comply with pp, it would have to be under ground. I'm not a huge fan of spinball, but how good would it visually look if it was dug into a pit?

As for spinball in reality, I don't think it will last much longer. It will be here this season, and the season after, but Imo, the 2018 season is less likely. I wouldn't be surprised if the new attraction for 2019 is an expansion of CL. Without a major breakdown though, id say its safe for at least two seasons.

Isn't Spinball cemented into the ground anyway, rather than bolted down? Pretty sure its been brought up in the past that it would be difficult to relocate because of this, and one of the reasons why it's yet to be sold...

What is the bolt like thing, near the bottom of the supports?

latest

Or could be to do with filling the supports with sand after production.

:)

I must be one of the very few that actually loves this ride and doesn't want it to go. Yeah it's in a strange place but there isn't really room for it anywhere else, and it didn't seem that bad there before they put cbeebies land in

It is one of the first rides you see as well. Just feel like there could be a much better ride in the area as the welcoming ride

On the Towers Wikipedia page it says that Sonic has returned to "Spinball Whizzer" for this season

The deal was scheduled to end in 2016 but I presumed this meant 2016 would be its final season as Sonic Spinball. Anyone is able to edit Wikipedia and nothing has been said on their website or social media about it reverting back to Spinball Whizzer, so I'd take it as a mistake by whoever edited the page.
