Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Maybe it was all planned, with Derren Brown being the name behind the ride. You were tricked into thinking you could get tickets at 10am...

It is very unfair though. Not of all us have the time (e.g. if at work) to check before and constantly refresh so when it says 10am I expect it to be 10am, not 9.55am.

@spinba11 For brakes yes - I'm not sure if it's used for anything else on Eurofighters. The air cannon compressor is operated independently to the ride system, of course.

I was at the park yesterday and they said it was closed till today (Wednesday 4th) it was running tests yesterday so I should imagine it won't be long before it reopens.

Stealth was closed all day after 12:00 and they're not sure if it'll open tomorrow. Also somebody had an embarrassing moment of The Swarm at about 5:30, they announced it would be delayed due to 'essential cleaning', we found out that someone had wet themselves on the ride. Had people wearing masks to clean it.

Well it can't have been due to fear, not on swarm. They were probably stuck in the queue for hours before they got on.

Is there any news on containment? I know it was mentioned a while back but I haven't heard anything since.

On the subject of mazes though, it looks like they've opened saw alive while DBGT's delayed.

i didn't know it wore underwear.

"It's" is a contraction of "it is", therefore the phrase "it's pants" expands to "it is pants", or to put it more plainly: "SAW: The Ride is an abomination that should be destroyed, melted down and the remaining lump of steel buried 10 yards underground in a lead-lined, steel box, surrounded by 3 feet of steel-reinforced concrete."

Went to Thorpe on Friday and had a nice time. Park was actually quite busy until late afternoon when everything became walk on. Good thing is when Thorpe is busy everything is on full capacity compared to going on a medium day when it's all on one train.

The only ride that didn't seem to be on full capacity was X. Which felt like it was only one one train!

Stealth was also closed all day and has been all week I believe.

And DBGT looks very much finished from the outside, saw a few figment staff around the area and there is still a studios north trailer there but certainly not much else going on from the outside.

One thing that's been added since the start of the season is announcements when the coasters are leaving "keep your head back and brace yourself at all times". It's now been added to X, The Swarm and Nemesis.

That advice always annoys me. On almost all coasters except launches, you are much less likely to get hurt by keeping your head forwards. On Colossus especially, it's the only way to avoid major concussion!

the thing about X is when It's on 2 trains (it can't run 1) is the train at load can't be sent until the other train is at off-load because if both stations are empty staff can't cross the track, if it breaksdown the staff are stuck. I laugh to myself every time I hear the announcement "hold on tight and brace yourself you're about to experience X" I always (in my head) put a se before X.
