I was wondering if they are enforcing ERT this year or are they just letting everyone in like last year?
Thanks :)

I was allowed in last month without ERT tickets however when i visited last week they were checking tickets so i think it just depends when you visit.

I haven't been for a couple of weeks. But what they were doing for ert this year was using the right hand turnstyles for ert only, and you can scan your annual passes on them.

Then at 10am they close the right hand side, and open the left as normal.

Just posted a rather large post however it has now once posted ended up with quite large gaps between each line which makes it kind of harder to read, any idea how I change this so the text is closer together?

Hi, I'm going to Alton Towers in the next few days, now all the weather forecasts are saying heavy rain and possible thunder storms... Is this going to absolutely trash my birthday day out or if worst comes to worst will I get a ticket refund for another day, if so will I get a choice or date range as to when I can return?

Coasters tend to run faster in the rain...
more lubrication and less friction I suppose,
some hurt a bit (rita),
but few things are more refreshing than Smiler's vertical lift hill in heavy rain!
Buy a poncho in the entrance shop and get going.
Queues are shorter as people drop out before setting off,
and even if they do turn up,
often leave early.
I'm a self employed gardener,
so I always use my season ticket to whatever park on wet days,
when I can't work.
So that makes me a bit of a "coasters in the rain" expert I suppose.

It's good to have forums like this about isn't it, I'll be sure to take your tips but I won't be spreading them around, we don't want it too busy wen its wet now!

Have you already booked tickets? If so I think you get a rainy day guarantee (free return tickets if it rains significantly).

Even if it does rain though, you should be fine. Always great to get the water rides done when it rains as they're always walk on, and the coasters always have shorter queues (though I'd avoid rita in heavy rain). You also have rides like duel for if it gets really bad. Hope you have a good day :)

Thank you very much, it rained last time I went but nothing huge like I'm expecting, glad to know there's free return tickets on the agenda

There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad unsuitable clothing!

I always carry a set of full set waterproofs (Jacket and trousers) which can be cheaply purchased off e-bay (or other similar sites) which are not only great for bad weather, but also great for the water rides. These will slip over the top of your usual clothing, you don't want to be wearing them all day, other wise you'll end up sweating in them, especially when the sun comes out.

Roy :)

What time do the food outlets shut across the park on weekdays?
