Scarefest 2016

"Altonville"?.. is that not the name of the town used for field of 1000 screams?

Sounds like an interesting, though slightly disgusting concept. Likely to be in the towers? Never seen a baron mine that resembled a got hic manor before, perhaps it will be where carnival was.

The village of Altonville is basically their Halloween town creation. It's used in pretty much all the scare room events at the hotels.

I have a feeling that Skin Snatchers will be housed in the basement of the Towers, given that its setting is a mine. I could be wrong, though.

Nice to see something new (even if there's a possibility it's replacing a maze from last year). Got to laugh at 'what lurks beneath' however, just so they can give a reason as to why it's another maze inside the Towers. Not that I'm complaining... although I do miss when mazes were a bit more spread out (in the park) and next to the hotels.

I hope that family entertainment gets moved to Fountain Square this year. That was a very good set up and hub of activity, didn't quite feel the same with everything down by Towers Street last season.

Should the description for Skin Snatchers not describe Altonville as a 'barren' town instead of 'baron'?

Still not as bad as the spelling in the preview video last year. You'd think they'd proof read things though, but I doubt many people will notice that.

I thought that their offering last year with Sub-Species was as intense as they were going to get. This new maze "Skin Snatchers" shows that, even if they do tone down Sub-Species, we will still have a top end scare rating maze. I can esily see this maze being the scariest of the bunch this year because of the theme alone.

Good to see a new maze confirmed for Scarefest again this year, I'd imagine this will be replacing Molly Crowe. Excited to see how it turns out.

:)

After doing some tweaking with the URL's on the website it appears Sub Species and Terror Of The Towers are set to return as expected.

Nothing on Molly Crowe, suggesting it has left the line-up after just one year.

Maybe wishful thinking, but it describes end games as "pushing the boundaries of scarefest", so hopefully it hasn't been toned down. Not disapointed with the line up. Would have liked to have seen something replace TotT (even if skin snatchers replaced it, much prefered molly crowe over TotT). Hopefully they're considering it next year, though I doubt it.

Question though: wow do we abbreviate skin snatchers? Can't be SS, we have sub species, and "skin" just sounds weird :p

It was 12+ recommended for all normal mazes (extreme has always been 18+ I think) every year until last year, when they started demanding that you are over 15 for all mazes. I understand it on sub species and Molly Crowe, but TotT really didn't need such tight restrictions. It just wasn't scary on the same level as the other two mazes, or even dark apocalypse.

In terms of what's on offer, if TOTT is the same (I'm really hoping it's finally getting the overhaul it needs), the event will be no better or grander than last year. Okay it may be marginally better with Molly gone and if Skin Snatchers is a better experience. Will be interesting to see what else they announce over the coming weeks.

I think it's too early to say this will be the best scarefest yet. Just assuming that last year's was the best to date, there isn't enough to compare yet.
It all depends on:
  • How well the returning mazes are executed (if TotT remains identical to last year, or if sub species is made shorter/improved)
  • If skin searchers is better than only Crowe (I suspect it will be, but we'll see)
  • How good the scarezones turn out to be
  • If there are any cuts to roaming actors/maze actors (we all know there will be)
  • If there are anymore ride closures later this season.
I am hopeful for this year, but it all depends on the scarezones ultimately. If we have a strong line up, this could beat last year.
