Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Icon - 2018 Mack Double Launch Coaster

I don't think we can compare the two yet, I mean who thought that the Smiler would have 14 inversions when we saw the planning application for that? SW8 could have inversions, launches and a load of airtime. We just don't know yet. At the end of the day ones being made from wood, the other from steel.

I'm not comparing the two, it just that the Blackpool Pleasure Beach project 2018 has wetted my appetite so much more than the SW8

I suppose at least towers put up loose advertising on the fence around the site. Blackpool as far. Left a building site in full view. I'm not saying towers have not made the site look any better??

At least we have two UK parks building coasters from fantastic manufacturers in 2018 and their enjoyment is not mutually exclusive...!

:)

All we need now is Drayton to pull something out of the bag and we have 1994 2.0 ;). Even if they just bought Kannonen, I'd be hard pushed to think of a better year in the UK for new rides!

As for Blackpool's coaster, having watched the video a fair few times now, I have to say I am very excited. Yes by all means it's probably not the UK Helix that some had come to expect, however it is certainly going to be the strongest coaster in Blackpool's line up along with one of the most solid coasters installed in the UK in some time. The first half looks fun while the second half looks like it will really pick up the pace, having ridden a couple of Mack's now it's safe to say those little dips and snap transitions offer some fantastic thrills! :D

My post didn't come across good, it was not a dig at Blackpools approach to the site but more at the fact they did not put any teasers up like Alton. Yes Alton have a nice over grown mess behind the fence (would have been nice to keep the water in the lake??) but they put up teasers.

I love the fact that two great coaster manufactures are building in the uk. Like 1994, they will both offer totally different ride experiences. Roll on.

Let's hope Alton have learnt from 1994 when they stated in a promo video something along the lines of "In 1994 all you'll hear nothing but Alton Towers, due to our exciting investments" then PMBO stole the limelight entirely and Nemesis was pretty much word of mouth in the beginning.

Hopefully it works out for both parks in 2018.

Great news for BPB though, I'd had a season pass until 2015 but didn't bother this year as I just wasn't excited by visiting anymore (only been once in 2016). Will have to get a season pass for 2018 to make the most of the new ride.

Her enthusiasm has the be admired, I do hope that she knows about kinda ka, steel dragon 2000??? Nah she runs a small family business, ignoring the fact that it's one of the founders of modern amusement parks in the world.

Good for her for the hype, hype for this far more just than the hype for infusion.

Can never understand why everyone raves on about '94... it's clearly all about '02... Colossus, Air and Jubilee Odyssey!

Or even better, '06... Stealth, Speed, Cobra, Rockin Roller and Kumali....

Seriously though, we had 11, yes ELEVEN coasters open in 2006.... yet next year we have just a Carousel and a retheme at Chessington....

Edit: we had 15 coasters open in 2007, although they were mostly Kiddy creds. 15 though!

1994 bought extended the rollercoaster map into the uk. We had a world record beater and two European firsts. We may not have these extremes in 2018, but e my see the same three parks compete again.
