Hex - If and when will it return

On a serious note I hope not much has changed to the ride in the sense of story, its fantastic as it is.
As I said before I hope lighting, sound has been seen to and theming has been restored in the main queue section. Its one of those rides I don't mind queuing for because how immersive it is.

I don't think they have change the story. I'm on the understanding that a lot of work has taken place in the octagon room, something about new better light effects etc...

As for the projector, I must admit that I didn't fully get how that was to be incorporated into Hex. But I understood the screen bit though.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Tomb Blaster is a lesson in how not to do lighting in a dark ride. I liked the octagon as it was so I don't see the need for all this anyway. Fix the effects, tidy it up a bit, fix the parking issue, job done.

I think they are allowed it now. It Was only to stop the spread of a virus carried by water that the affect was stopped. since it's not really an issue anymore I'm sure it would be allowed.

If I could have any improvements though, I'd ask for a better projector in in the first pre show, and better TV's in the octagon.
 
I would love to see flat led screens in the octagon, but made to look like old TVs, that would keep the feel of the exploration/just set up feel of the ride.
 
They do have flat LED screens in the octagon, these were added last year I think? The only issue with those is they have a glow when they are on the black screen, so it's never complete darkness now when the lights all go off.

I've heard that the ride will be slightly longer, this will be the pre-show in the octagon room, this is because the octagon pre-show would finish and then the vault room wasn't always ready to accommodate the next batch of guest.

I also heard that the VR was never considered for the vault, but for the octagon pre-show, probably partly explains why the floor was relaid (walk about VR? I'm only guessing). VR was only considered and is not going to happen now.

I also heard of an upgrade that they want to do, but if they can't get the appropriate material and the correct size required, then it won't be happening, if this is true, it also confirms that charlie won't be making a return, but we knew that it won't all along.

If they can find a screen large enough to cover the vault floor, it will hide the tree that has the red light up eyes. They are hoping to use this in conjunction with the charlie lift projectors to create the effect that the floor looks nothing more than the floor, and when hex reaches it's climax, the screen will become transparent by using a back light and the tree with the red light up eyes will appear in the floor :)

Like I said, this will only happen if they can find a screen large enough, so it's not 100%, so let's see what happens when Hex re-opens.

Trust me VR was never considered and the backlight screen neither.

For a start there isn't enough clearance between the gondola and the floor of the vault to put anything above the witch face.
 
I was reading somewhere (cant remember where) a few months ago that Hex and the Driving School are closed as there is something wrong in the "Towers" themselves and its nothing to do with TLC its a safety thing. Which would answer why hex and the driving school are closed. The last thing they would want and need is a brick wall falling down!!. Dont know how true it is but it would fit in. I also know the XP for "CATCF" has run out and the RD estate would not renew it. Hence why CATCF is closed.
 
They need a new curtain in the octagon, the current ones all torn up and doesn't 'blow up' like I remember in it's early days and as can be seen in this blurry promo.



I believe that's also Hex V1 in the video as the proposed changes in the document that was floating around on eBay mentioned the removal of uv lighting in that area.

They should also fix the curtain that reveals the entrance to the vault...in short FIX THE CURTAINS!

Strange. It usually was ready but it's never been a problem until the ride developed parking issues, taking 3 hours to settle into place.

There is. I know what he means here.

He's talking about them stretching a theatrical scrim over the tree/witch face area. Whatever sits behind the scrim will not be seen unless it's lit. On the front they would be projecting a simple photo image of a floor. It would be very easy to hide short throw projectors in the walls under the gondola, they don't need to be a part of it, they would be static.

So Hex reaches it's climax, the projetors switch off and the tree face lights up appearing magically out of nowhere. Clever, and it should have been done from the start.
 
Technically (as I think I've said before) scrims don't use projectors. The image of a floor is painted onto a scrim. When back lit the material allows enough light through to make it appear transparent. No projector just some powerful LEDs.

However I don't think a scrim would be strong enough. They have to be very thin for the effect to work, meaning they rip easily even when static. I wouldn't put one in a giant washing machine and let it spin around all day, every day.

If isn't happening, the changes to Hex will be more subtle than that.

The edge of the gondola gets very close to the face when it spins so there really isn't any space to mount a screen. Plus needing back lighting and mounting projectors to the vault (which will need to be balanced).

Yeah thats the traditional way of doing it but it relies on the room being well lit on the front side, which in the case of the Hex vault it's not.

The scrim would be static, and since it only requires about 1mm of space when stretched tight I don't think the drum would go anywhere near it.

It's a good idea tbh. I think the fact Disney's Haunted Mansion rides consist almost entirely of scrims stretched floor to ceiling proves they hold up well, especially in the garden/graveyard scenes where they're litterally a few feet away from the ride vehicles. They're used to give the atmosphere a hazy look instead of using fog machines.

If it doesn't happen, it's because Merlin and Towers suck. Which we know already tbh.
 
What do you mean it'l be static!? this is Hex we are talking about? The whole room turns! I wasn't suggesting the scrim would move separately, just that the general rotating of the room would slowly degrade it.

On the flip side does the room need to be well lit? I thought it was the opposite, hence why it's most effective in Thetres and the Haunted Mansion.

Don't get me wrong I love scrims, wish the one in Legoland's Dragon could work properly again. I'm just not confident they'd work inside Hex along with the swininging. What Hex could do with is something in that exit corridor, maybe they could be put to use down there?
 
It's simple: light the side you want to see, and keep the other side dark. Same as a net curtain in daylight vs at night.

... We'll be luck to get normal Hex back, never mind improved Hex.
