Hex - If and when will it return

Sorry to link to the sun, but anyone think this may be publicity for hex reopening? People seeing "apparitions of the beggar woman who cursed the land and it's owner two centuries ago".

I know it's looking likely that they've abandoned the idea of VR/AR, but does anyone think they may have gone down the route of ghosts and apparitions (after all, there really isn't much they could do without writing more to the traditional hex story).

I wouldn't expect to see Hex change much from how it was at the end of 2015. Maybe a minor touch up or improvement here or there. But really it won't be anything they couldn't of done over the closed season, and had it open for 2016.

Thats what I hope for anyway, with the recent dark ride investments I don't trust AT or Merlin to make any positive changes to Hex.

I've not heard any info on this from the park,

I know staff have been training on Hex for a possible opening next season.

Only time will tell if whether the online rumours are true or if my information is correct

Training staff now for next season would be strange. If staff are being trained then it could suggest an opening for half term. Maybe they are expecting good numbers through the gate and are trying to do something about it?

:)

So if it does open for October half-term does this mean the rumours of recent work to upgrade Hex are false? (unless it happens in closed season)

I guess if they have made changes to the ride system, they would be rebranding this as a new ride and it would make sense to pop it on the map as new for 2017, à la Galactica.

My gut feeling, that this is the same as the Smiler opening for Scarefest/Firework rumours from last year but hopefully I'm wrong.

I've heard from various sources that there has been some serious work going on in Hex.

Hex has been closed for almost 12 months now and there has been work taking place inside of the attraction for some of this time. I don't know exactly what this work has been but it is probably not noticeable. I wouldn't expect any real changes to the ride itself.

:)

The rumors regarding the smiler were correct though. They were planning on opening, but obviously encountered some kind of problem. If these rumors came from a similar place, id be hopeful for a half term opening.

Half term does make sence though. Just like towers tried to open the smiler hours after it e-stopped after debris may or may not have fallen, it sounds much better for hex go only close for some of a season than the whole thing.

If there have been changes to the ride, should we expect a soft opening/technical rehearsal like DBGT?

I doubt it as I fully expect the ride experience to be near identical to whenever we all last rode it.

:)

I doubt that it will open next week, as they will need to muster and train up extra staff last minute. I presume the staff training is to test any modification, (or system upgrade) in preparation for next season.

Rumour did go around last year with regard to the Smiler opening for the scarefest/fireworks, however it was I that first brought you the news that the prohibitive order was removed (that because I was there on the day it happened and was witness to the tail end of the staff riding it) and I also posted on here that the Smiler would be very unlikely to open last season as they needed to do x amount of hours testing it and would definitely be returning this season. However people built up their hopes last year, disregarded what I posted and rather believed the rumours floating around the internet.

I still trust where I get my info from, they've never let me down so far, but then again nothing is 100% as management can chop and change their minds.

I personally think we are still looking at Hex returning next year.

I think that's where I've ended up becoming sceptical about this as the latest rumours seemed to suggest a longer ride time. Not something you can hide from our eagle eyed group of enthusiasts.

I thought this was all rumours based on the back of the testing going on at the time. However I could be wrong on this.

Were they planning on opening The Smiler late last year - or did we all just assume that? I thought nothing was confirmed regarding a possible 2015 opening, but I could be wrong.

I don't think that apart from general repairs, we won't be seeing any major changes. I'm on the understanding that any potential upgrades to the ride experience has been shelved. It is not unusual for any rumours going around the park to never materialise, hence why I don't post everything on here that I hear.

People just assumed that as soon as they saw it testing. I think they were aiming to open it, but time was against them. The prohibitive order came off late in the season and not much time left to run the x amount of hours testing time.

We'll never know officially that they were, but yes they were planning on opening it later last year. For varying reasons this did not happen.

:)

They're already straining for staff to run the rides as it is, I doubt they'll find the additional workforce to open an extra ride for a week.

Who will operate Oblivion and the Smiler?

They will still need to employ extra staff and train them up as Hex staff also run Oblivion and the Smiler ;)

If HoM is running on and off due to lack of staff and various staff being shifted around the park to cover other rides, where as @Danny said are the staff coming from?
