All under 16s really should have an adult with them at all times anyway.

I'm under 16 and I visited Thorpe Park earlier this year, with some friends, without any adults. I never messed around whatsoever on any of the rides, including the rapids so this restriction seems rather pathetic.

Although a lot of under 18 are sensible and most likely wouldn't misbehave there's always a few that will.
And under 18s still aren't legally responsible for themselves.
This is more to cover themselves more than anything I would guess.

I can see why they've decided to put new restrictions on the Rapids to a certain point, what with the way the press on picking up on every little thing.
With these in place, it was looking good for the waterfall and guns to make a return so I tweeted them to ask if that would be happening. The exact reply I got was "we have no information regarding this at the moment."

Helpful, as ever.

If they don't return, it just makes the new restrictions seem too extreme. Under 0.9 fair enough but 18+ and asking for ID just seems ridiculous.

Yet they consider that you are an adult from the age of 12 when it come to purchasing an entry ticket into the park

Ticketing in my opinion should be height based so it depends on how many of the rides you can actually go on. Most 12 years olds are about 1.4m so near enough matches up with going on thrill rides.

My daughter is over 1.4 and she's 9

It doesn't effect us as we have MAP's but I don't think I'd be very happy if anybody tried to charge an adult price for her to be honest

I agree with Jon mainly because being over 1.4m allows access to everything(other than the Rapids) and also age is a hard thing to determine when allowing entry unlike height

When i take her to a football match i buy her a junior ticket, same thing when we go to the cinema yet she takes up a seat at both that could be otherwise sold for full price

Yet you believe a 9 year old should pay full price at a theme park!?

Child prices/famly tickets have to be offered everywhere because if they weren't i'm pretty sure family's would find other things to do

Whilst I agree with you (under 18s should be a different price)a football match or cinema can be viewed by adults or children.
Rides with a height restriction cant be ridden unless your of that height so the situations are completely different imo.
Basically if you can fully access all the attractions(except 1) then you should pay full price regardless of age.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this

But if that's you and your baby on your avatar i'd bet my house on you changing your mind when your child's 9:)

Yes that is me and my child but I also have an 11 year old who goes on everything so I still stand by my point
