Interested to hear people's views on areas of the park that could do with a spruce up in time for 2018? I really hope the River Caves receives some TLC as soon as possible!

In addition, it's such a shame that they removed the cave exit and replaced it with a bin bag tunnel... such a terrible way to end a ride as elaborately themed as River Caves.

The half price wristbands finish on 29th March so they'll have not finalised opening times beyond then.
 
Just had the email about season pass collection dates;

Registration Dates:
Thursday 1st February
4pm - 6pm
Friday 2nd February
4pm - 6pm
Saturday 3rd February
10am - 1pm
Please arrive at any time during the slots above and ensure all
pass holders are present to have their photo taken and pass printed.
You will need to bring the booking reference number and your ID - this must be for the lead booker. Parking is free on these above dates in Balmoral Road car park. Please head to the main Ticket Centre in the Casino Building.

Really good they do this but I'll just get it sorted opening day.
 
Ouch, considering how busy those weekends generally are 6 hours isn't great, even given the cheap wristbands. It'll be a Sunday trip or not at all for me next year I think.
 
I actually found last year that as the weekends went by, the quieter it became.

The first two weekends were absolutely manic, not helped by a large amount of ride closures plus most coasters being on single train operations. Yet early March was much better, a lot quieter with most teething problems sorted.

I'd say it's good to compare these WOW weekends to the Annual pass preview days that Thorpe and Chessington lay on.

Can't blame BPB for wanting for earn some extra dollar, and people do flock to them, but I'll try and resist this year because it's really not worth it. May well be half price, but you'll be getting on half the amount of rides too.

I say I'll try and resist coz nothing else is open in early Feb, so a day there is better than nothing really, just need to lower expectations for how many rides I'll get on.

Oh, and one thing about this year, you can bet your mortgage that every geek who has a Facebook page/YouTube channel will be there on the opening day just to rush in to be the first person to put up pics (or videos) of Icon...

I do hate what Facebook has done to our community. Pre-Facebook days of just forums were so much better.

Huh, my experience was quite different. I found the first two weekends to be quiet, never queued above 20mins for anything, but towards the end in March the queues were much more substantial-to the point that they extended opening from 5pm to 6pm.
 
BPB have confirmed the wristband price during wow weekends in 2018 will be £19.50, quite a jump on the £16.25 this year. This reflects the huge jump in the "on the day" price from £32.50 to £39.
 
The new WOW price is a 20% price hike compared to last season, which is quite steep considering there will be nothing new to ride during the WOW weekend's.

If they carry that % increase through to the main season 10 day advance price, then you are looking at about £27 for the advanced booking price.

On the plus side it makes my £80 season pass renewal very good value.

They were planned at 11am all along, not sure why it was showing as 10am on the website, I've been working with BPB's events team to organise the PBE opening day event for a few weeks and all along I've been told 11am is the time the park opens, probably means our event will start at 9:30am ish.

It was pretty much the same this year, even though we (PBE) covered it two weeks before BPB opened with a photo gallery and video from our closed season walk-through, but yeah it'll no doubt be the case again next year.

I also find it strange how the majority of a YouTube vlog-squad leg it from North entrance to the Big One to try and get first rides on it every year despite classing it as a Monorail for 90% of any BPB vlog they post, especially as it's wasted effort, they never get first rides on it!

The whole monorail thing is just a very old joke, I don't think anyone actually classes it as a monorail.

I'm no vlogger but when I'm at a park, I usually leg it to rides not in the aim of getting first ride but in the aim of getting the lowest queue possible :p
 
The Big One is usually the first ride we get on, coz as we get in the park for opening...."oh Nash is closed, Mouse isn't open yet, nore is River Caves. Same for Dipper and Infusion. Oh Avalanche is closed too. As is Rev. BIG ONE QUEUE IS OPEN" (joins queue) "Oh it's not open yet". Sees Nick Streak go around with 4 people on it...."Well let's just stay here". 1 hour later we get on our first ride XD

This literally happened quite a few times this year and it's not even an exaggeration. I even asked one day in the summer hols when getting wristbands will everything be open when the gates open "yes of course....." such lies.

And I also don't understand why anyone gives a flying fish about being the first on a ride for the season... or even when it opens from new for that matter.

"I was on the first train of the Big One for 2016".... cool, so how exactly does that help you through day to day life? Do you have a certificate framed on your wall? Do you mention this when going for an interview?
 
Can someone tell me how blackpool has a Alice in Wonderland ride within the park? How does the Disney copy right work with it?

Same loophole that means Oakwood can get away with Peter Pan and Sleepy Hollow areas (although I'm not sure the latter ever materialised?)

For smaller parks, it's often worth rummaging around in the distant past for timeless IPs. I understand that Pleasurewood Hills are currently considering a Thomas Land competitor based on Tolstoy's existential classic, 'The Death Of Ivan Ilych'.
