Enjoyed hanging around Icon today even if it did become somewhat torturous watching people ride knowing I wasn’t allowed to. Got some good pics which I will post later.

Frustrating really that after the media stuff died down and the guests started to disperse, they didn’t just open it up to everyone. Especially when from 2pm trains were going round half full, often with just the front & back 2 rows filled, or even less. Still, I get that if that had happened, those who paid £25 to ride from last Sat to Tues would be rather cheesed off. Still, I’ll be on it next Thursday so not much longer to wait

My thoughts pretty much echo those of Craig, but to summarise:

Our first ride, on the second row from the back, was very underwhelming considering the weekend reviews. It had a few good moments but much of it felt slow and forceless.
I am amazed at how much it warmed up in such a short space of time! Come 3pm it was like a different ride, with some good forces on some of the turns at the back and some cracking airtime.
Overall I think it is a front row coaster; although some parts on the back row once it has warmed up are brilliant.
The mist really adds to the ride, hopefully this will remain.
I love the overall styling of Icon, they've done a good job. I'm still not a huge fan of the station exterior from a distance, however it is better close up and even better inside!
The soundtrack is perfect, just a pity it is not available as a CD.

Icon is a really good fun rollercoaster and unlike anything else in the UK. I cannot wait to ride it later in the year towards the end of a long day when it has really warmed up!

My thoughts as well. “As one Icon opens we sadly said goodbye to another icon at the start of the year, can you tell us why the decision to remove it was made?”

Obviously PBE need to keep the park on side and I guess a question about the Mouse would of rocked the boat

True but they did ask general questions aswell and when are they going to get the chance again?

But guessing it would have been their last interview with management if they had popped the question!!

Would have been interesting though especially as the rumours are that Nick was against the decision to remove the mouse.

Agree, but to be fair the interviewer DID ask Nick what his favourite ride is, and we were simply discussing his response.

I wondered if I would be the only one who felt a little underwhelmed on my first ride - I did enjoy it a lot more on my second ride (Sunday), and look forward to riding it more this weekend.

It's difficult to work out if my thoughts on Icon are diminished because of what happened with Mouse or not, I really want to like it but a new coaster doesn't change my thoughts on certain events which took place in January, and I much preferred Wild Mouse as a coaster.

Really hoping to rate it higher after lots of rides over the weekend once it's warmed up properly!

Guys....I was riding Blue Fire on the first day of public operation...then after a week...then after two weeks...after a month and so on...very regular...always on different times of the day. That coaster type is not just getting faster a the day gets older....Blue Fire went through a massive break in process...it took about 2 or 3 month of operation to fully break in if I remember correctly. If it get`s intense now....after just a few hours of operation, I guess that`s a VERY good sign regarding the intensity that you will experience later this year

One thing - has anyone wondered why exactly people put their hands up on rides? I mean, watching that, those two just look expressionless with their hands flying through the air from side to side. In a way, quite comical to watch. I wonder if it started from kids rides where they little un's would should "hey look mum, no hands" and just carried on into adulthood and enthusiasthood!

As soon as I entered the park I spotted this rather cool Hummer golf buggy type transporter vehicle, which Nick Thompson later drove to the Icon media launch in.
