Flat Rides: What would you like to see come to the park?

Capacity. ROI. Maintenance. Many other things.See, if even parks like Tayto get the idea of why flat rides should exist in a park, then why the smegging hell is that something Towers don't even seem to be considering?
Tayto is growing in the same way as Alton did all those years ago.

If a park like alton can't Mainten some basic flats then IMO they have a real problem with there Maintenance departmentCapacity. ROI. Maintenance. Many other things.
ROI?
Capacity For Coasters and dark rides I can understand that, but flats IMO you can get away with it as they tend to be fillers anyway.

So Tayto will end up like Alton is now?

I’m fairly confident that Towers excuse for not getting new flat rides is marketability. If they can’t market it then they won’t add it which is dumb.

ROI?
Return on investment, i.e. how much money are they going to make back, and how quickly.

It's about spending money on what will bring you a return and what is marketable, because ultimately that is what allows you to make your return.
Merlin have seemingly concluded that the costs associated with the purchase, marketing, staffing and maintenance of flat rides is not workable for their parks at the moment, hence we have seen few additions and a good number of removals. Six Flags & Cedar Fair went through the exact same thing but are now actively seeking to add flat rides to their line ups - so perhaps the economics are changing and also because a good chunk of their parks had become great for coasters and not much else.
I think a BIG flat ride doesn't suffer from the same problems but planning is obviously a consideration there for Alton. Plus, if you do have a hit on your hands and your new flat ride becomes a headline grabbing attraction (for the right reasons) - chances are it's not going to shift many more than 400 people per hour with a reasonable cycle time.
Yum! own KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell etc. They have a certain amount of money that they spend on new outlets. If they're going to spend £1m on a new restaurant in a location, they will open the brand that allows them to generate a return on that invested capital within their predefined period - which is why, in the UK - you see less Taco Bells than you see Pizza Huts and KFCs. That's not to say Taco Bells don't make money - they just make less £1s per £1 spent so that chain remains comparatively small.

Types of flats I'd like to see - Intamin gyro swing (probably not possible), Mondial Top Scan, Zierer Star Shape (probably not possible either), or maybe a replaced HUSS top spin?

They could have a great line up if they'd just invest! Two in X-Sector, two in FV, including a Blade replacement, one in DF, a new one in a CCL re-theme and the ride lineup would look a lot stronger than it does now!

I was at Drayton Manor today and the flats there are clearly the highlight of the park if you aren't into Thomas Land. My day was essentially entirely comprised of re-rides of apocalypse, maelstrom and Air Race and it was great. They really soaked up the queues so Shockwave never really got a big queue, despite the shoddy operations on that thing and it only running one train. It was a very busy day too.

They are - but that's only by default because the coaster line up is so much weaker.I was at Drayton Manor today and the flats there are clearly the highlight of the park if you aren't into Thomas Land.

Six Flags seem to be going through a phase of adding at least SOMETHING new every year now, hence the additions of multiple package deals... Merlin can't do that unfortunately since pretty much everyone in the UK can visit more than one park...
They need something though, if any to ease the pressure off the coasters, whilst allowing guests to get some actual value for money, as the cost is always associated with the number of rides ridden... Though most guests are always focused on the coasters for obvious reasons, a few low queue attractions would benefit the park greatly...
Unfortunately as well most of the high capacity flat rides tend to be huge, a shame cos I'd love to see one of the REALLY big swing arm attractions (think it's Zamperla who did the ones at Bon-Bon Land and Tusenfryd) because they make Maelstrom look boring...
Maybe when they build the new log flume right?

An ABC-Rides Tourbillon would by my choice of flats to replace the area where Ripsaw was. A similar type or ride and would fit nicely I think in that spot. Could also keep the overhang where people watched Ripsaw from. Cyborg Cyberspin at Six Flags Great Adventure looks nice and I think one over here would fit right in.
Ripsaw was 18 metres (nearly 60ft) and Cyborg Cyberspin is 70ft so not a lot taller and surely they could accommodate the extra 10ft somehow, weather it would be digging down a little or they might be ok due to the tree height (just?). I know they only seat 24 riders each cycle and Ripsaw was 40 but more flats, heck, more rides is better than Forbidden Sweep or a half arsed show. I'm just gutted I left Great Adventure 2 days before this ride opened.
