I already know a few pass holders that either have decided not to renew or won't be renewing their passes, so it's not just the general public that won't return

<< slowly raises hand.

Still undecided over a Thorpe pass, my niece wants to do a family day out there during August (stupid if you ask me), so I may plumb for one just to cover this day, but we're not renewing our PMAPs.

You'd also think Merlin might want to know why people don't renew, they like to send out emails for new shit, but no, strangely completely silent, "why haven't you renewed?" Would be something I'd reposond to. Maybe they already know the answer.

Yup, declined a season pass this year, even at fifty quid.
Been once on an excellent day with the coaster geriatrics on a 241 to ride the new woodie early on...back once with the lovely wife on Sun vouchers...that will be ruined by overuse of fasttrack by all the new season pass holders looking to make the best of poor operations...so screw you merlin for another year.
You can find me in the reliable, well managed fast moving queue for Icon.
The g.p. keep coming back as their kids get older, then have kids.
Generations are only twenty years or so, by the time one gets jaded, fresh blood appears...that is what Merlin are now working on...they will come regardless.

I guess for me its not so much about the rides anymore. Usually its about meeting up with friends, and the memories of the place and making more. Yes, its good to get on the rides, but its not as important as it used to be.

There will always be an emotional connection to the place for everyone or we wouldn't be here.

But I'm sure Norman Bates would have had a far healthier state of mind had he buried his mother and remembered all the happy times he had with her rather than preserving and stuffing her corpse and talking to it every day.
My god, I think this could be the greatest metaphor I have ever read on this forum!

A few people from work visited Alton Towers yesterday. They got on 4 rides (didn't get on Wicker Man but were evacuated from the queue), were surprised that the park closed at 5pm (they expected that it would be at least 6pm) and thought bottles of water as well as their lunch was very expensive.

However they did enjoy their day. So make of that what you will!

:)

You're right of course. The main damage will be from members of the public who will be majorly disappointed with their experiences.

From us lot, you have to ask the question - if it has to be something "really bad" to make you all stop going, just how bad does it have to get?

Well as long as Towers product offering is "better than nothing" they clearly hope the GP will continue to return! I'm not convinced though - the GP are clearly starting to feel ripped-off / short-changed by Towers. As the saying goes, you reap what you sow.

I'm seriously considering ditching my MAP next year after 7 years of having one ... the value I'm getting from my BPB pass is showing up AT even more and the removal of SRQ has seriously got my goat

The problem that I've got with the fast track at the moment, is that it is supposed to be an optional extra for people that want to enhance their visit by spending less time in the queue lines, however this season, it's now become a must have as it's now the only means to fit more than 3 rides in a day

Based on my visits then that is just not true.

:)

....but based on your workmates visits.......:p ;)

It must be busy today.

Nemesis' queue is 70 minutes.

:)

There's something weird going on with the queue time system, earlier it said at the entrance Nemesis had a 50 minute queue, but the back of the queue was under the lift hill, and it's running 2 trains. More like 15 minutes :p
