As said don't bother with the monorail.....when you get to the car park ignore the staff telling you where to park and just drive up to the top of the car park and you won't have as long a walk

Personally i'd skip Wicker man and Smiler at the start of the day as that's where 95% of poeple head for first and you'll just get stuck in queue's for the rest of the day if you do the same

A couple of weeks ago on a sunday we did Oblivion,Enterprise,Rita,Th13teen,Hex....walk through the gardens to Nemesis,Galactica,Duel,RMT and Rapids by 12

Wickerman is usually quiet between 12-1 so you should get on that in 40 minutes....then up to Smiler

We did all that plus pizza and pasta and then had a game of golf and then checked into the Chained oak around 4pm

Its easy to dodge queue's in the morning now most rides open at 10 just don't go to Wickerman or Smiler first no matter how tempting it is:):)

edit:i should add we have ERT but its still managable i'd say
 
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm going to Towers tomorrow and Sunday, and I was just going to ask... will I get evicted from the park if I wear an Icon shirt? I know it sounds stupid, but it seems like the sort of thing Towers/Merlin would care a lot about because it's the competing 2018 ride in the UK and all, and I don't want to be evicted.
 
They once tried to refuse me entry at Flamingoland because I was wearing a Thirteen hoodie.

It's actually quite common. Parks are like the Olympics, they have very strict branding regulations. I wouldn't dare try to enter a Merlin park these days unless I was fully decked out in official park-specific merch, from Nemesis shoelaces, to Oblivion T shirt, to Alton Towers baseball cap, with a VIP lanyard covered in pop badges.

Just to be safe.

Are there no scare zones for Scarefest this year? I have been looking at the line up and there seems to be no mention. That’s very sad as Freak Show was a great free addition! (Also is there a Scarefest 2018 forum on here yet? I can’t find one)

Didn’t read these until I got home! We went on the monorail and it was okay but a longer wait than usual! Had to walk back though as it broke down when heading out of the park.

There are no Scarezones this year. I think the Scarefest thread is in the future section.
 
On a random note, since when have they started holding people at the bit of Nemesis' queue by the vertical loop? It seemed like they were using it as the Fastrack entrance, but they'd never done that previously, to my knowledge.
 
Sorry for double posting, but I just wanted to ask; has Bradley Wynne's successor as the MMM creative in charge of Alton Towers and Heide Park been revealed yet, out of interest?
