The Merlin VIP Annual Pass

Then use RAP in it's intended form, rather than trying to cheat the system. You can't have it both ways.
I'm hardly trying to cheat the system.
It's logistically tricky actually getting someone to go with me as a "carer"

You could also try just only going on really quiet days if you can't stand queueing. That's what me and many others do. If it means booking a day off work then so be it. Looks like some just want to rock up on any really busy day and not have to queue for a long time. Neither do I, that's why I don't turn up on busy days. People can't tell me that they can't queue for a few minutes, or how do they cope when they have to queue in a shop etc. It's just ridiculous.

Oh yeah, by the way, I find it very funny that this VIP pass is getting binned.

My problem is standing for an extended period of time. So a 2 hour queue stood up is a no go for me but a 5 to 10 min ft queue is doable.

Not always practical!

Good riddance to the entitlement this pass created. For what it was it was far too cheap, as people will pay literally anything to skip queues.

Any system that offers unlimited fastrack can have a disproportionate effect on everyone else even in very small quantities, so I'd be concerned to see anything similar cropping up that can't be regulated.

I'm personally hoping it's merlins plan to double the price.

So you'd pay nearly £1,500? Mate, I'd just not go. You must have more money than sense.
It's not that (considering my annual salary is something like £7.4k) but I truly feel that VIP has been good for me in a person development/aspie way.

So you're willing to hand over ~20% of your yearly income, just to skip queues in a theme park, that you visit on a regular basis, and have done to death‽

I will never feel bad about my addictions again. ;)

Out of interest, how much would they have to charge for it to change your mind?

@ihaveaspergers, how many visits do you make per year?

For £1500 you could swap to premium for £159, and buy Alton Towers Platinum Fastrack 13 times (£100x13) and still have change. If you only cared to do each ride once per visit you could buy Gold Fastrack 22 times (£60x22) for less money.

There's also Thorpe!
I had a planned 18 nights of FRIGHT NIGHTS trip this year!

One year I made 28 visits to towers.

If they were going to double the price, surely they would have just done it?

No need to withdraw the pass and get everyone to renew onto premium to then bring it back, they would just wack up the price in the first place?

I suspect they have calculated that the time taken for the staff to pander to VIP pass holders can be better put to use in more profitable products/services.

Surely if you are capable of using a VIP pass on your own, you shouldn't be using a RAP in the first place?

A 2 hour queue is too much for me and i'm not disabled.

I'm going to have to step in here and stick up for @spinba11 who I've know for many years now, and I can vouch that he is one of the genuine ones who genuinely can't stand for any length of time, but can just about manage to use the fast track queue line. I have seen him struggling using the fast track queue line and would benefit from using level access, unfortunately he does visit the park on his own and under the RAP rules, he must have a carer to ride, which dose make it difficult for him. This is where when people abuse the system, it has an negative effect on the genuine people. However this is another topic which we do have another thread on a different part of the forum. So perhaps not to go off topic too much, RAP related could be continued here

https://towersstreet.com/talk/threads/ride-access-pass-systems-and-disabled-access.4711/

With regards to the VIP, I can see that all the parks will have a annual fast track pass for each individual parks like Thorpe currently do.

interesting, so the VIP pass is used to bypass the RAP rules. what happens in the situation an evacuation is required?

Obviously the park won’t know this VIP is disabled as they won’t be in the correct seating / wristband and the person wouldn’t have the carer to assist them.
