Why does everyone keep going on about putting a Wetherspoons inside theme parks? It is almost certainly not going to happen because it would be financially detrimental.

Theme parks want:
- Easy to prepare, quick food
- Low costs and high margins
- Food with low dwell times (as in, people don't sit for long periods)
- They want to leave you wanting more

We (as in enthusiasts) are not the market they are targeting. They are targeting families and kids. Think about a school trip - they get a relatively low entry rate. How much do they spend in the park? I would reckon they are hitting an additional spend of about £25 per head. So a hot dog here, a burger there, ice cream, chocolate covered whatever. Overpriced vending snacks... this is what parks want to do, because it is where they make money.

The only parks that will have a different outlook on catering outlets will be the likes of Blackpool PB as they are activly competing against outlets around the park. AT, Thorpe, Chessy don't really have that issue.

If you ever see a Wetherspoons type outlet in a proper 'Theme' park, the menu will likely have 4 or 5 items, cost £10 each and it will be served on a paper plate. Oh, and the beer will likely be the cheapest they can get and be sold at £5 a pint. That is theme park economics for you.

My comment wasn't serious - even the Wetherspoons bit. Certainly not the bit about installing it inside the Chapel ;)

The most interesting thing to me about F&B in a lot of parks is that it still feels so amateur.

The ways by which you efficiently serve good quality fast food to high volumes of people has been perfected over decades by the leading chains - yet in parks you still see lacklustre service (and food) with similar equipment and quite often, an inflated headcount. That I think is really unfortunate - especially when some of the worst offenders have a BK on site outperforming their in house operations by a country mile.

Still don't think theme park food is any worse than the big fast food franchises.

Sorry, I'm the one that thinks Wetherspoons would be better. Won't mention it again though.

Of course if we did have one, it shouldn't be in the towers. That would be sacralidge, no to mention ridiculous.

I think it should be on Towers street, next to Log Flume Dennis's Vertical drop, launched logflume ;) (which I would love to be real).

It's pretty poor that one of the best quality / largest food outlets on park (Towers Street Bar & Grill) remains closed. Surely something should be done with it.

It's a good venue, if not a little tired - but RCR fills the void that it once filled to a large degree.

But RCR food is just :mask:
Its popped up on my FB memory I was there open day 3 years ago. And if I recall food was yummy
But now :weary:
Only thing I’ve been in for recent is icecream or a drink. Wouldn’t touch the food.

I've always thought they need a Subway, or own-brand equivalent. Never been a fan of hot food for lunch. Sometimes you just want a sarnie. Easy to eat in a queue as well.

Subway is a great idea! Towers is definitely missing some decent sandwich options! Some people just don’t want greasy burgers or pizza

Anyone know if the original signs mentioned enterprise, did the signs get removed before x-sector reopened after the smiler crash?

Does no one else find it a bit... odd... that Leek Signs have such free reign when it comes to posting signage destined for the park? Especially when it sometimes gives information that should probably be disseminated through official channels?

I really don’t get it. Doesn’t make any business sense to me...

Well I'm sure Leek Signs either have the explicit consent of the park, or a general agreement that they can take photos of their work for promotional purposes. I imagine that's quite important to small businesses. It would be business suicide to do something that the client isn't supportive of.
