Busch Gardens Tampa: General Discussion

I will also write up my trip, the odd thing was we also did seaworld and that was a delightful day and probably my second favorite park in Orlando yet is owned.by the same group...

Yes, I completely agree again. We loved SeaWorld so much so that we made a return visit a few days after our initial visit.I look forward to your trip write up!

Plently of rails on site now, I suspect we might see some of them being put in to place soon.

This time next week I will be in Tampa for my first ever trip to Busch Gardens. Apart from being gutted about missing an RMC by a few months, I am really excited about visiting the park, and the coasters in particular, especially Sheikra, which looks awesome. Any tips for doing the park, ie rides to rush to / leave til late on, etc? How about food outlets? I believe its only open til 6 which is a bit crap for August, but we will have 2 days in there so should have plenty of time. Can't wait!

If there's any tip I can give you; definitely check out Falcon's Fury! It's a very unique experience, especially as there's only 2 of them in the world!

Thanks. Just been looking up the rides. I will absolutely crap my pants on that drop tower. Really looking forward to SheiKra, Tigris, Kumba, Cheetah Hunt & Scorpion. I am not generally a fan of dangly coasters, but as I believe Montu is supposed to be the daddy of them all, I'll have to ride it! Of course, water rides are great in hot places, so I will enjoy the flume & rapids to cool off

Not a tip as such but just be wary that the park is bigger than it can sometimes look, partly down to a poor path layout. Getting between SheiKra and Montu for example takes much longer than you think it might as there is no way to cut across the middle of the park.

A quick teaser for RMC Gwazi showing the ride tearing through a zero g stall:

If it carries the speed anything like that in real life this could be something truly special.

Before u plan on going check the weather forecast as if it’s planned to rain/thunder most of the day it will be a wasted day as if there’s thunder within 5 miles of the park all the rides close.

What a view!

I think things would have to go very wrong for it to not be open by June.

Any chance this could possibly be open by end of April/start of May or am I clutching at straws :tearsofjoy:

Highly unlikely but you never know.

I think mid to late May will be when it opens but that's pure guess work on my part.

It’s relatively common for US parks to get rides open for Memorial Day weekend, which next year is 25th May. Perhaps that is a when they are aiming for.

2 days in Busch Gardens. May do a more in depth report when back, just checking in to say that SheiKra is awesome. Oblivion on steroids. Blivvy will seem rather boring next time I go on it. Tigris was intense. Not felt scared like that waiting for a coaster for years. Great stuff. @rob666 $9 for a beer. Shocking. Completely unacceptable. Even on holiday, I am Yorkshireman and will not pay nearly a tenner for a beer ! New coaster coming on nicely, great views of it from the rides, caught a glimpse of the purple track as posted already
