See this is why it's a disadvantage to go to towers when it's really quiet, you have to wait for the rides to fill up, and that could take ages. Best off going when the queues are 5 mins cus at least you know there's enough people
It’s only smiler and 13 that needs more that 2 guests per train, the 2 guests per train is a park rule and not a manufacturer rule.
 
I have had days at the Towers where everything was walk on, all day, and I had no issues whatsoever about trains needing filling.
You get a nice seat for a rest instead of all that standing and walking, and the ride staff are usually chatty and supportive.
The days of ride ops jumping in next to you for a sneaky ride have now sadly gone, but it used to be a quite regular occurrence.
 
As a single rider, they never allow me to ride alone on the rollercoasters if there is no other guest around. They usually say is that they don't want me to be lonely on the ride, however I've heard from one staff member is that it is to do with that if anything goes wrong, or something were to happen, then there is a second person as a witness, however I don't know how true this is. Sometimes if it really quiet, a spare staff member will ride with me.
 
I've always seen staff riding Nemesis before opening/after a stoppage anyway.
I've never seen staff riding after a stoppage, only ever seen empty trains go round.

Interestingly, I've seen the Smiler testing only with dummies in the morning, yet Wicker Man with empty trains then staff. Any idea why dummies are used on The Smiler and no staff, yet Wicker Man uses empty trains then trains with staff?

Because wicker man doesn’t have a tendency to stall.

I've seen two staff sat on the end seats of the front row. I think they always test-ride before opening. :p
 
In the morning or after a breakdown? It certainly wasn't policy for either scenario back in the 2000s, although it could have changed.

Both. I remember that before my first ever ride last year it was down and two staff rode it before it reopened. I also remember staff riding before it opened in the morning during the recent Nemesis 25 event.

It's been routine for nemesis since at least start of 2017 season for staff to ride before it opens for the day.

What for? What are they supposed to check when riding? Are they engineers? Sorry for all he questions I’ve always wondered what they’re supposed to check for.
