I love Big One, not because it's a great roller coaster but because it's a great experience! Taking father-in-law there and it was his favourite just because of how high it is. There's just so much throughout the ride that makes you wonder what they were thinking when they were designing/building it, from the turnaround to the bodged(?) supports later on in the ride where the park have had to do some adjustments!
Arrow used to eyeball there rides they never used a computer to design it was pretty much built and adjusted

With these retracked bits, are they brand new bits of track made from scratch, or do they re use the old bits, sanded down, etc?

I think that they will be brand new. The section being replaced must be one of the highest G-force section s of track and must get some pounding. That said, it is interesting that the tract was removed so far in advance of new sections arriving.

Done a bit of scanning whilst watching the Chelsea game. There was some mad RCT2 stuff dotted around the park during the WGT era - this, or one like it sat on the south side of the Tom Sawyer until 2001 or so.

I would love to see a Huss TopSpin at the park, perhaps in the Trauma Towers area. I actually think it would be an absolute winner, particularly if they were to go for a fountain package. It would be a total rip-off of Rirpsw or Chessington - but I think it would be a perfect fit for the park.

Replacement for the red arrows If and when it hopefully happens

If they were to replace SkyForce, I think it would need to be with something more mid-range thrill levels - I think a StarFlyer (http://www.funtime.com.au/data/Star_main_page.htm) would be a great addition, and a good visual draw for the park.

They nearly installed a Starflyer in the mid 00s (back when they were cool). But as I recall, word was they asked Funtime to adapt their design to suit the frequent high winds on the coast, which was something they couldn't deliver. The ride is a bit too ubiquitous now, and I'm sure that issue would still remain.
