no way does that mean they should be sacrificed
who says they are being sacrificed?

unless you mean the gov who sent all the old people home from hospital to nursing homes to clear the beds

yes we should protect those that need it but we cant live in constant fear of this

"The Government's coronavirus warnings have "effectively terrorised" Britons "into believing that this is a disease that is going to kill you" even though most those infected will not be hospitalised" - Professor Robert Dingwall

also like the Prof says the 2m thing was because we cant be trusted with 1m distance,
maybe on Sunday they will reduce that and means more people in shops , I hate queuing outside

Spending a bit longer inside isn't "living in fear". I love how you think people should just get back to normal because if they caught it they probably wouldn't die. I don't want to get sick either.

As for shops, I've been going occasionally to get for my parents and grandad and I find if you time it right you don't need to queue.

Please don't get your hopes up about the 2 metre rule being lifted on Sunday, I don't think that's going to happen so quickly.

sorry I cant see how me quoting a gov adviser thinking we have been terrorised equates to "people should just get back to normal"

I think alot of people are scared witless to go out incase they catch it. as they think it will kill them.

stay inside a bit, ok.. but for how long, months, years. decades. when will these people decide its ok to go out again

I cant see how gov are going to go from , stay inside or you will die / kill people to ok everything's fine now, go out and back to work

Nobody is suggesting we'll stay inside for decades. From the current leaked plans it looks like we'll be back to normal by the end of the year at the latest.

But what will be different by the end of the year? There still won’t be a vaccine, I repeat again there has never been a vaccine for any coronavirus before, they mutate all of the time.

How much of the virus particles you get is a key factor, known as "viral load". The more particles that enter the body, the more severe it is, and vice versa.

Influenza mutates consatantly, but there is a vaccine for the most prevalent strains every year.

But Flu isn’t a Coronavirus and we have a vaccine for all of the mutations.
The common cold is a coronavirus we don’t have a vaccine for that, and how long have they been trying to to make one?

There will be little difference between now and the end of the year, only maybe an app that nobody with any common sense will download.
I’m not saying go straight back to normal but a gradual opening up of things that will allow enough healthy people to get it so herd immunity can be achieved is the solution.
Yes there will still be deaths but as heartless as it sounds that is classed as collateral damage, we are in a war and that’s unfortunately what happens.

The only other solution is we stay locked down forever but that’s not going to happen either.

least they got bexit done ;)

also this from newsnight
Dame Deirdre Hine told the gov in 2009 be prepared for another pandemic

So Brexit caused them to run low on PPE, and they cancelled the pandemic training for NHS workers. They also did a pandemic scenario a few years ago and they were specifically told that they needed to make changed and increase the supplies to the NHS. Yet they blindly went forwards with brexit etc and they decided that they didn't need PPE for the NHS. The government have been a disaster since they got in complete control 5 years ago today. I think they've done enough to prove they are not fit to govern.

We seem to have actually gone back to some sensible discussion in recent posts, but could I please ask the following:

- I echo Sammy's request to be respectful in this topic. There's a huge percentage of us who likely know someone who has been affected by this virus. Let's leave terms such as 'collateral damage' off this topic please.
- If you are going to participate in this topic, do so in a meaningful way. Simply complaining about the situation does nothing to progress the discussion.
- If you are going to make claims in this topic, then they should be backed up by factual, reputable sources. That means no conspiracy theory websites/videos.

I remind everyone that membership to this forum is a privilege not a right. If the team have to deal with repeated issues caused by a member we will not hesitate to stop their remove posts right through to removing access to post. Moving forward we will not hesitate to lock this, or indeed any topic on a temporary or permanent basis should constant issues by seen.

If anyone has any questions or queries on the above, please do not respond in here and take discussion off topic, but instead message me directly.

Thanks.

I hope you mean amount, or have the Welsh got incredibly randy during all of this?

Out of all the things to be lifted though, exercise is the main thing that I agree strongly on. There's plenty of open spaces to visit. With an emphasis on it just being the amount of times you can go out and the length being the things that are changing, it hopefully shouldn't make too much of a difference.

Sorry that was auto correct on my phone. Maybe it knows something we don't.

Exercise is a good thing. As long as everyone does not choose to go to snowdon for it.

So he's basically telling people that they can carry on doing what they've already been doing? As if most people have limited themselves to an hour anyway? That 1 hours allowance basically almost immediately in reality turned into "in the unlikely event that I ever even see a copper at any point when I'm out of the house for the next 8 hours I'll just say I was on my 40 minute exercise regime". The government have been behind the curve with almost everything so far. They started 'lockdown' when we started locking ourselves down and they'll tell us that we can come out of lockdown when we've pretty much decided to do it anyway (like what is actually happening at the moment). They know they have no control over us so they just pretend they're allowing us to do things when they know full well we're already doing it anyway and can't police it.

Just to make something clear before people jump on imanautie based on what he is saying. There's been some justified concerns about how the app will work by many in recent weeks due to the centralised way that the app is run. There's a graphic on the BBC article that explains this:

By releasing the source code, this allows those who are skilled to study it and independently identify/allay any privacy issues - as has been reported from initial checks mentioned in the BBC article. In addition, releasing the source code allows potential security vulnerabilities to be spotted. If any are picked up, they can be disclosed responsibly (e.g. not publicly) to the developer to allow them to be fixed before they are utilised by others for malicious purposes.

Thanks to the way that hacking is reported in the media, it's often seen as a negative thing. There's a far greater number of people in the tech community who identify issues and disclose them responsibly to the developer rather than utilise their findings for their own gain. The vast majority of larger developers already actively encourage and reward those who discover and report vulnerabilities in their code, so it's very much not a new thing.
