What changes to operations should we expect post Covid-19?

Well we literally need supermarkets for food to survive so, erm, weird comparison.
Yeah true. I just mean from a social distancing perspective, theme parks are not as high risk as other places due to the sheer amount of space they have.

If the government plans to open things like pubs, restaurants and cinemas from 4th July, then I wouldn’t see those as any less risky than a theme park, presuming both applied social distancing.

Seeing as government are making masks mandatory on public transport shortly could we see the parks make masks mandatory?

I mean, anything could happen, but public transport is known for having a lot of people in a very tight confined space. Theme parks are (on the whole) notoriously the opposite. I think if they made it so you had to wear face masks in shops then it would be more likely, but probably only in indoor attractions and queue lines, as we're seeing at places like EP.

Remember folks, the theme parks definitely won't open this year :p

Well, they aren’t open just yet so it’s probably still a bit early to say they 100% will be. Especially when zoos are being told they must stay closed for the foreseeable!

I’d say quite honestly that’s the most mind boggling and worse decision so far that’s been made. Zoos should of be able to open when it was made possible to access gardens etc. Zoos need to be open sooner then theme parks they are more at risk in my eyes.

Now, yes. The regulations have just changed.
Ah right. Thanks for the clarification @skyscraper!

What were they under before, then, and why are they being told to stay shut for the foreseeable? As isn’t a zoo arguably less high-risk than a theme park?

It could be argued that forces from rides make them more dangerous, whenever that's true or not I have no idea.

*So yes zoos should be lower risk

Yes, zoos should open before theme parks in my opinion.

I still don’t see how we can go from max 6 people in a garden to 000’s in a theme park in the space of a month.

Raises the question of what will Chessington do, is it a theme park or a zoo? Lol

I mean, I don't know how big your garden is, but I'd wager that the density of a few thousand people in a theme park is still a lot lower than the density of six people in your garden...

I don’t think it makes any difference re chessington as zoos and theme parks are now in the same high risk category!

Size of garden wasn’t really the point - we aren’t allowed to do anything at the moment so I don’t know how we can get to queuing for coasters and staying in hotels that quickly.

As I explained to island security there are key points where people end up packed, points where social distancing might be tricky.

Yeh fair point - when was this announcement made? I missed it.

Fairly confident that the staff at Thorpe will already know that, without needing it pointed out by a guest :p

Because the government is losing popularity and wants to be seen as releasing the country......

Hugely professional setup at ATR today - especially at admissions. Although with a lot more people, crowds could become more of an issue, but the bag search/temperature check was very well put together. There are markers all around the park on the ground but this is fairly discrete so there are not the barriers and hideous structures that we have seen at Walibi Holland or Efteling.

How's the temperature checks being conducted? Forehead or side of head?
