Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Visited today. Their Oktoberfest event is... a start... an effort has been made. Only one bar open today, huge huge queue. Area seemed busy, clearly there is the demand. It's a bit small and a bit tacky but hopefully it can expand in the future, there is potential.

The rest of the park was horrible. Very busy, not much social distancing, long queues for pretty mich everything. I used to like Saw but bloody hell it is rougher than Colossus these days. Stealth also needs some maintenance, extremely jolty.

If I go back I'll order a few steins before the beer queue builds up, might make the place more tolerable.

Lol, cached on mine.

The rule of six allows people from different households though. Pretty sure you don't have to social distance in the group, only from other groups/people.
These are the bullet points from the government website, but like everything COVID I'm not surprised there is confusion.

When seeing friends and family you do not live with you should:

  • meet in groups of 6 or less
  • follow social distancing rules

https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...-meeting-with-others-safely-social-distancing

Merlin should know this at all levels though.

Regardless of whether you actually actively distance or not (let's face it no one's going to challenge you unless you're in a massive group, especially in a theme park), it seems silly as a popular UK theme park YouTuber to post a blatantly non-distanced photo if they don't live together. Whether they do or not, I don't know.

Precisely where I'm coming from too. I have no interest in what individuals do, but when marketing for a major theme park brand put out an image, it should be following the guidelines.

Id love to know who on here has gone out for a meal with friends and sat a metre apart from them and gone on holiday or for a day out to a theme park with friends and stayed a metre away from them on attractions, because I'm pretty sure the number is nil.
Yeah i visited towers with a friend in July and will visit with the same one on Saturday. I’m definitely not standing 2 metres apart at all times, we’ve been in a social bubble for months now anyway. Frankly, in a social bubble you do not have to distance, it would look ridiculous anyway if we visited together but kept apart. Strangers, however, I will go out of my way to make sure I’m as far away as possible. (And that’s without COVID-19);)

After visiting Thorpe Park for the first time during Oktoberfest, I was listening to the music that was playing around the resort (heard the best in The Dome). It has such a lovely tune / beat - sounds almost pirate like.

Can anyone get a copy of the Thorpe Park Oktoberfest music? With only a week to go it will be pretty difficult but I hope someone is going there soon that can record it.

Many thanks
