In its first season Air didn't want to run in the rain either due to sensor issues. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't like the heat either!

The sensor issues on Air in 2002 were two-fold...

Rainwater was causing havoc with the sensors (that I think were optical) in the seat armrests that detected the presence of the harness locking pins. These sensors were replaced with some other type and this problem was eradicated.

There are 4 electrical circuits per seat on Air, compared to 1 per seat on Nemesis. In the Air stations, radio-comms were used to communicate between the train and the PLC & display the locking status of each seat / row of the train on the Ops control panel. These radio comms frequently dropped, taking the ride down with it. The radio comms were replaced with infra-red to eradicate the problem. If you look on the front of an Air train there is an IR transmitter - look into the tunnel and there is an IR receiver bolted on the wall.

Yes back in March 2002 we went on a very wet day and didn't get to ride at all as they couldn't get Air to work in the rain (only time we've ever bought an AT poncho!).
I recall going back later in the season and the whole station applauding each time it actually despatched correctly!

Maybe the mods should move the (very technically interesting) Galacticair posts to the Galactica thread :p

Well to end all discussion on the matter, I've heard that it was running two crafts yesterday, but the second craft had a safety circuit issue, so with the 3rd train in for weekly maintenance, it left them running one craft.

In other news, Enterprise is closed again and was yesterday. Would love to know what's up with it from a technical perspective as it's had so much downtime recently.

I had a ride on Enterprise for the first time in years last week. The only spinning flat that doesn’t make me nauseous strangely enough.

I hope it re opens soon.

I mean it didn't feel that quiet tbh. The queues weren't too bad tbf. The queues averagely for each ride were:
Wicker man 20 mins
Rita 30 mins
Th13teen 50 mins
Smiler 45 mins
Oblivion 20 mins
Nemesis 5 mins
Galactica 30 mins
So not too bad pretty quiet
The app said by the end of the day queues were max 10 mins

So the Smilers 60 minute queue cap has clearly been changed as it's on 90 now and there's no way that's just because of some fastrack

Visiting tomorrow, hoping for average queues (45 minutes or so) but I can't see it being that quiet unfortunately with it being a Saturday. Can always hope. :tearsofjoy:

I dunno, it's far, far more interesting and worthwhile than "This queue's long", "yeh it is, I'm on park and it's long", "this one's quite short though", "oh are you on park, how long is such-and-such a queue, 'cause the app says this" etc.

I think that is down to opinion. I find it interesting discussing ride popularity and queues. Maybe you don't but no point slating the people who do
