Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Thorpe have had an NHS testing centre installed in its coach car park.

Raises the question again of, so where is the Luna Cinema going? Overflow could be interesting if it rains.

I doubt any of the parks are going to need their overflow capacity for as long as we are needing Covid testing centres

It’s only temporary for a couple of days.

The overflow field has been in use on many days so far this season.

Ah, didn't realise it was a roaming rapid response style testing centre from Thorpe's description.

Luna Cinema opens the day after. Going to be some busy construction staff.

I've heard that Thorpe have said that no exemptions are allowed regarding masks in the mazes. If that's true then Thorpe are breaking the law by refusing access to those with genuine mask exemptions. I know all public places reserve the right to bar anyone for any reason but I'm not sure if that covers individual activities within the premesise.

Just got to hope Towers don't follow suit (I emailed them this morning to double check).

The key term is what's reasonable. If there's no practical way to keep enough distance to be able to have mask excempt people in the maze they just won't be able to.

They've probably judged the mazes higher risk than indoor areas/rides due to the enclosed nature and close proximity between actors & guests.

It's not discrimination if it's on safety grounds and there's no practical way to safely accommodate those not wearing masks, similar to the accessibility requirement on rides being discussed in the RAP topic.

If it's been deemed that there is an increased risk of guests and staff contracting a disease that could kill them, by allowing unmasked participants into an environment where you are almost certainly going to be less diligent than you would be elsewhere ... that doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

In the same way I wouldn't want my surgeon to have a mask exemption...

The PR (possibly an over enthusiastic reporter) blurb for fright nights also implies that having the NHS app is a requirement of entry.

I agree it's reasonable in the case of an indoor maze.

Will they actually check that people have the app though?
Just had a look, the app is encouraged but not compulsory at Towers.
The official rules do state that places have to provide an alternative system for those without the app.
It'l be like the restaurants "do you have the app? No? Ok IL need the name and number for every member of your group"
