Flamingo Land: General Discussion

VIP entrance.
Quebuster tickets.
Single train.
Mingo levels of operations.
Think I might wait for a wet weekday in termtime, next year, before I even attempt to ride this.
As far as Yorkshire coasters are concerned...
I miss t'ultimate.

Ultimately with you on that one …

Knowing Mingerland, Vomit will be delayed for an hour or two but instead of cutting the vlogger time etc they'll take it off normal times. Bonus if one of the six "thrill" rides will be dead all day.

Ew.

Also, the photo op is complete (does actually look quite nice!);

The tunnels are being covered up!

The tunnel mist effects have been testing!

Good to see that there is a separate accessible entrance. That along with the separate VIP entrance will mean that the exit won't get clogged up. (Well let's hope that will be the case anyway- My guess is the accessible entrance will follow the exit path to the unload platform whilst staying separate, and the VIP entrance will follow the main queue to the onload and air gates)

The height restriction has been confirmed as 1.4 metres.

If that's meant to be the union flag (not a jack as it isn't on a ship - fun fact for everyone) it's a poor attempt. I suppose you could say it looks like someone sik'ed it out. If they wanted to go for a whole patriotic theme why they didn't just give it a name related to the jubilee, make the trains purple with a union flag on them and open it as close to the Jubilee as they possibly could is beyond me, sounds like a great marketing move to me but whatever let's just call it Sik instead.

It’s fairly common for new rides to open at 12:00 on their opening day. This gives the Rides staff and Engineers enough time to make sure that the ride is definitely ready to go and functioning well.

I was there for the 12:00 opening of Duplicate Dino Coaster and remember the ceremony well!

Also gives sufficient time for an opening ceremony. 🙂

Problem is what about the paying guest who has paid full price to get in - would they want to get on the ride at park open or wait a couple of hours just because of an opening ceremony making the other rides busier? I know which I’d prefer - wouldn’t give a stuff about an opening ceremony just get me on the ride

Err..."pending downtime."
Mingo ops are notorious, queuetime closures often happen due to issues of some form or other well before the official close.
We have often had half the big rides close before the official close time.

It’s sometimes hard to work out whether Flamingo Land’s getting better or not, but this certainly looks better than The Corkscrew. It’s not heavily themed as such, but there is clearly more to it than Velocity. I know that sets the bar pretty low, but I think they’ve done a reasonable job with this. To quote Wallace and Gromit’s Thrill’O’Matic, “That went as well as could be expected”.
