Nemesis: Sub-Terra

I doubt they'd make the effort to get it from an SBNO state to an operationally ready state if they were only planning to keep it open for one season.
I mean they shouldn't have made the effort to build it in the first place if they didn't plan to open the ride for more than a couple years. It should be ready to go whenever needed if there's no outstanding problems by now.

I agree, because then people that ride it this season are going to wonder what’s happened to it after just one season. It just doesn’t make sense, no matter what justification anyone tries to make.

Anyone who thinks it will be a one season wonder, feel free to quote me come opening day 2024 if it’s closed and I’ll happily eat my non existent hat!

I’ve said this a few times but the caveat is unless it’s returning in some sort of scaremaze /welcoming guise which I don’t think is totally beyond the realms.

But yeah, otherwise, the idea that a park desperately short of filler attractions/flat rides is going to go the effort of restoring an indoor attraction for the sake of a single year and then resign it to SBNO seems totally counterintuitive to me.

My personal guess is we’ll get a ride very similar to the old experience with a new story, new queue line video somehow linking it to the ongoing Phalanx stuff, presumably in a way which doesn’t become redundant again in a year’s time when Nemesis is back again. It would be great if they used the benefit of 10 years of SFX technology to improve the experience but I’m not holding my breath on that score.

They shouldn't have no, but they did. Then again, it is there park and their money, they can do whatever they want I guess. Unfortunately it looks like it was not ready to go when needed. Hence the floor etc. Hopefully things change though, the ship seems like it is slowly turning course for better seas.

In response to a previous comment about they shouldn't have built it if they were only going to operate for a few years, I really doubt that was actually the plan. We already have pointed out quite a few unfortunate factors (the crash being the main one) that led to it's original demise. In an alternate universe, would this have still been operational over the past 7 years? Possibly so, but I guess we'll never truly know.

Will surely be the longest a ride has been SBNO and returned to operational?
It wasn't a well received ride originally, maybe it could have been tweaked to have been a better ride experience with less staff/operating costs. Very surprised they haven't released some news yet regarding this if it is coming back. Creates a bit of excitement for a ride not many will have been on. I'm not a fan personally but if it takes a few off the queues of the other rides then I'm all for it.

They haven't released news about Duel yet either, so I wouldn't be surprised if Alton are simply running a little late on the new ride announcement front this year.

Personally, I reckon they might let the cat out of the bag about both Duel and Sub-Terra at the same time.

They missed a trick by not mentioning Sub Terra in the video at Nemmy's closing event. Could've said something along the lines of "our laboratory will be doing experiments on Nemesis throughout 2023 and beyond, and requires test specimens to assist".

yeah I think it would’ve been a good move to do that, I was convinced that is what the announcement on closing night was going to be. Expecting some other form of Phalanx video instead though.

Yep bit odd that, I guess there are still no guarantees it will return as an operational ride although seems likely.

They should have done that. I personally have no clue why they wouldn't, and it seems like a wasted opportunity.

I totally disagree. That night was about Nemmy and nothing else. It didn't need taking the limelight away and a new or reworked attraction would have taken the buzz away a little. I'm glad they decided against it.

I'm sure we will get a video linking it all together in the coming weeks.

Sub Terra would probably been better received if it was a stand alone attraction and not something trying to live off the Nemesis brand. Same for the Thorpe coaster. There will only ever be one Nemesis and if you installed the exact same ride and track in any other location it would never be as good.

Now that I agree with. But they didn't do that so it's a moot point really.

I'm sure we will get some teasers soon.

Could we see an announcement if N:ST is returning sometime this week now Alton Towers have announced The Curse at Alton Manor?
I'm not so sure. I think the main focus will be on The Curse at Alton Manor in this year's marketing. Rightly so as well, as it's probably going to be the one which attracts more guests. I'm expecting something for this, but maybe not quite yet, and not the same scale of marketing either.

We may see a lower-key (re)introduction of Sub-Terra. "Back for 2023" perhaps with a social media post or two.

The motivation will likely be to focus on Curse, as has been suggested. That is where the most money seems to have been spent and also it can cope with huge interest from people given its capacity.
