I guess it's a question of quality vs quantity. Having more events is not a bad thing as long as they are all done to a good quality. The problem is when events just get created with minimum effort.

Generally the new events have improved year on year; Mari Gras for example was much better in 2022 than 2021. I would like to hope it will be the same for Festival of Thrills this year; I was not overly keen on it last year.

Festival of Thrills feels like a "this is our event quota, and we have to meet it" filler. With Nemesis down and out this year, I'd have gone for an all-in-May Half Term Smiler 10th anniversary event exclusively. I'm all for events and it's great to see effort being made, but of the events last year, this one felt the most downbeat.

As long as the pontoon is back for Mardi Gra, then happy days.

I agree. For me, that really made the area. A few more food outlets and a bigger floating pontoon and it'll be better! It was a unique thing to do and made use of that area of the lakeside really well.

This is absolutely insane - I've only been the once (in part due to other comittments and covid), but paying an extra £25 ontop of the pass - no thanks.
Or you can pay for the platinum pass and have no exclusions.

For me it makes sense, its a great event and is likely very expensive to put on. The scaremazes are £20 extra on top of a pass too.

Yeah I’m not thrilled by this, was actually contemplating paying the upcharge and going to fireworks this year. It’s not too bad if you only have yourself to pay for, but for families it adds up. If they do another no joining fee sale on the monthly passes at some point, I might ‘upgrade’ to platinum as long as fireworks stays included in that, but if not then we won’t go.

Passholder prebook for fireworks is up £5 to £25 this year:

Well that definitely makes my Gold Pass a bad buy then, would have saved money buying a Platinum.

It's almost seems as though they're just trying to deter non-Platinum passholders from coming to the event at all, clearly they don't think we make them enough money! Which is odd because I don't think any of the three Fireworks days were actually sellouts in 2022.

Do we know if the other blackout days have had price increases for daily upcharges? I wouldn't be surprised...

Got to pay for those high standards folks. Especially in spelling, punctuation and grammar.!!!!!

Don't know why the theme park costs the same or more than last season when one of the best attractions isn't open. Makes you realise how much the big 3 carry towers because the lineup is so much worse when one of them is shut. Any of the other 4 coasters are shut and most won't bat an eye

Last year Thirteen barely ran outside of summer anyway due to the temperature and weather restrictions.

£25 is a lot for passholder entry to fireworks. Combined with the sudden increase in restricted dates on the premium pass this year (not announced until after the MAP sale) I'm very much feeling I wasn't able to make an informed choice about my current pass tier when the sale was on

Yes that's what's most frustrating, lack of transparency about the upcharges when you buy the pass. I think their comeback would just be that they can increase prices at any time throughout the year and if you know you want to visit on those dates buy the upgraded pass.

I'm annoyed that I don't have the option to either upgrade or cancel my pass (which I haven't used yet) when I know now I'd have been better off with a Platinum. Leaves a bad taste tbh.

There isn’t a premium pass anymore? It’s discovery, silver, gold or platinum for Merlin and silver or gold for single parks.
Only the platinum doesn’t block out fireworks and it’s been that way for several years since they got rid of the old premium pass.
