2023: The Curse at Alton Manor

So it's parts of the advert that has been used in the countdown teasers then as well? It definitely looks like it to me!

So with how she pops up on the advert in different scenes, I hope they go for the ABBA voyage route and use holograms of Emily around the ride as a jump scare or two

That would be amazing but I donā€™t believe the budget would cover the cost of that particular technology! Thatā€™s what thousands of ABBA fans are contributing, I can see a mixture of projection and peppers ghost effects.

They could still use old animatronics like the flying heads and swap to dolls heads?

A few points in the video of that company; I'll let you all draw your own conclusions.

First off, the video has been unlisted for some reason? Was this the case when it was originally posted?

Second, we can see a few of the camera "scene names" in that blender wireframe they briefly show here. A few jump out, namely "attic" and "dining room", but some like "Elevator" I wouldn't see fitting into the attraction:

We can also see a bit of the track path, which at best I'd say roughly lines up with the Duel layout here. Doesn't seem to be exact though, and there are things where the fire exit corridor should be:

We also get shown this later from a different point of view and it doesn't line up at all:

The ride vehicle is also Rise of the Resistance's trackless RV (you can see the droid at the front to back this up). There also look to be things under the floor. So I'd say that this probably isn't TCaAM.

The face tracking 3d model they're using looks a bit like Emily Alton? I guess? Maybe?

Perhaps I could be convinced a few of the following bits are relevant, and some of the layout lines up? but a switchback in a dark ride isn't exactly uncommon. The banner on that picture says "Happy new years", btw.

I'm not sure what concept art everyone is saying "clearly looks like TCaAM" but none of it really jumps out at me. Happy to be proven wrong, though.

EDIT TO ADD:

I'm pretty sure this is the actual wireframe they're working with, from their instagram. This does not align with duel whatsoever, so I doubt TCaAM is being worked on here.

They could use protection mapping as a illusion of being transported up to Emilys attic, via a Victorian elevator, however I would assume the ride vehicles would have to stop. But wasnā€™t it mentioned the ride system can be stopped, slow Down and sped up in places?

I believe the video in question has a mix of different rides and AT, it definitely has to be the grand hall with the new years banner!

I dont care much for promotion when it comes to new rides (judge the ride for the actual ride) but they have done a phenomenal very creative job with the PR around this launch and a great advert.

I hope it's very successful for them and proves you can do a non-IP dark ride and get interest.

Also it has an exact replica of the haunted mansion's stretching room. the company might be involved slightly but I don't think they would have any major involvement

We've seen this shot too many times now that it must be a version of one of the new scenes.

I'm thinking this is the replacement for the Gloomy Garden. Given what we know about the ride's story, this would be about the right point in the ride where a scene like this would fit in.

The only other spot that the ride layout would work for a scene like this is around the Trommel, but this seems too early in the ride for this scene.

Please tell me I'm not the only person who - when people say "this part of the ride", "that part of the ride, or "it can't be at that point because this section is first" etc - has absolutely no idea where they are referring to within the ride as I can't remember the layout of Duel?!?

Iā€™m the same, I have no idea really because I donā€™t think I paid that much attention whilst using the guns šŸ˜‚the only scene i know the location of in the ride is the Grand Hall right near the start. even if some scenes have remained the scene, I wonā€™t really knowšŸ˜‚

Exactly, and in one sense, that will work in my favour as I'm one of those people who look for how things are done rather than appreciate the effects in dark rides so if I knew the layout as well, I'd be constantly thinking about what they've done to each area as I went through the ride!

Couldn't get a photo because I was running for a bus, but I saw an advert on a digital billboard in Sheffield today. Exciting!

Crumbs. I've only gone and (maybe) proven my previous post wrong. In CONDUCTR's promo video, you can see the following banner:

image_upscaled.png

Well, I was rewatching the new TV ad, and guess what (brightened copy on the right with my poor markings on it):
1678894193391.png1678894442363.png

Looks like CONDUCTR are involved, at least in some capacity, since the promo video actually came out (much) *before* this TV ad did. That said, the font is actually different? so, not sure what's gone on there.

It would make sense if the banner says Happy New Year, as I'm pretty sure something in the press release was mentioned about skeletal bodies in the Grand Hall at a New Year's Party

Not sure if it's been posted, it may have got lost amongst the images. Here's the full press release which accompanied the images if people want to refer to it
Visitors to Alton Towersā€™ newest spine-tingling attraction will appear to vanish in front of their own eyes, the theme park promises.

Those brave enough to cross the threshold of The Curse at Alton Manor will also be confronted by flying demons, levitating dolls and haunted chandeliers when the attraction opens its doors this week.

The haunting and immersive dark ride charts the terrifying story of Emily Alton - the troubled daughter of a pair of Victorian high society figures who prefer partying to parenting, until one night when they disappeared into thin air. The only person remaining was Emily, and some say she still haunts Alton Manor to this day looking for the one thing denied to her ā€“ play.

Through a dozen extraordinary scenes, visitors are taken on a step-by-step journey as Emily wreaks her awful revenge.

Cutting-edge audio technology makes you feel that Emily is talking directly to you, while advanced 3D projection-mapping brings each scenario to chilling life.

These include The Grand Hall, where an opulent party becomes a scene of death with skeletal bodies lying slumped at tables.

The Demon Doll Workshop gives visitors a chilling insight into the mind of Emily with an operating table at its centre and human-size dolls lining the walls, while The Attic is where the lonely and forgotten child languished with just a dollā€™s house to entertain her.

Ride creators have also hidden fairytale easter eggs in each of the rooms that visitors are encouraged to discover.

Bianca Sammut, Divisional Director at Alton Towers Resort, said: ā€œWeā€™re delighted to finally be able to take the wraps off The Curse at Alton Manor and welcome those brave enough to enter.

ā€œWeā€™ve harnessed the power of cutting edge technology to provide a fully immersive experience that blurs the line between reality and Emilyā€™s demonic world.

ā€œVisitors will even seem to disappear in front of their very eyes as a result of a spine-chilling array of special effects and visuals that have never been seen before from a UK theme park.

ā€œChildā€™s play, this isnā€™t. Emily is waiting ā€¦ The question is, dare you experience what she has in store?ā€
