2023: The Curse at Alton Manor

I think they need to work on the consistency of the effects. If the ride slows down or stops for any reason whilst you are on it you can often spend the rest of it in the dark with little to no effects working, it throws all the timing off.

The two new hide and seek scenes with Emily are really good in my opinion but I've no idea what the skull is supposed to be.

So glad I managed to somehow avoid 99.9% of spoilers for this thing because I absolutely loved it. Went on it four times over the course of the day and there was so much going on that I only clocked the Flume duck on the third one.

Got a bit emotional seeing the picture frame with the old trommel sketch and then turning to see it working beyond even how I remembered being blown away by it as a kid. It seems like the wrong word to use but seeing an area of the park that I've always loved having a new lease of life was just great too. Even the unspeakably crap weather didn't put too much of a dampener on it. My only criticism is that I didn't get to experience the extended queueline!

The main issue is reliability - I went on Sunday and it was down again for multiple times during the day, and the staff seemed frustrated and were also doing a reset on the cars in the station and moving them up the station from the exit platform to the onboarding (as some cars were not out so there were gaps) - its like when it first opened back in the 1990s!

The smoke in the fireplace before the trommel stopped working again late afternoon - although sometimes you can run out of fluid!

Ideally they could use a combination of smoke machine and air compressor tech (similar to what Disney parks use) - use a big heavy duty smoke machine (like what they use on gangster granny) which the heated smoke vapour is then sucked from a container into an air compressor inlet to then be stored as compressed air and then burst it before the trommel - instead of the 2 smoke machines firing every 10 seconds - which seem to be replaced/moved each time I've visit!

Hopefully this is sorted during the closed winter months as there is more time to test!

The audio for the screaming heads has changed again, theres now a scream similar to the one off Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic Haunted House!, And some more blue lighting in the garden just as you enter!

I don't suppose they had a haunted character (i.e. John Wardley) in the back of the car with you pressing a reset button like they did for the original press night did they?

I do remember getting stuck in the Trommel tunnel. Needed a bit of a sit down afterwards but getting stuck in the dark in the hide and seek room was definitely something. I’m not one for mannequins and dolls, so being right next to one Emily Alton waxwork was terrifying. You know… actually maybe I’m not for most things. I am a massive wimp, but that makes it more fun

After waiting almost the whole season, I finally rode TCAAM at the weekend! Only one ride sadly, but it was really good. Very creepy! Was so nice to see the trommel working again too. An excellent addition in my opinion and I hope to get many more rides on it in the future.

It’s certainly my had downtime everyone I’ve visited this season. It unsure if it’s ride related or effects related? I never remember due, being closed so much, but is that also cause it was always walk on and we didn’t really look at it much?

is it possible that people just notice more as it’s got a new ride tag?

I don’t think they did anything with the ride system so it’s still 22 years old.

I’ve heard they have closed it down a few times, and considering I’ve heard people report it more now, I wouldn’t be suprised if the new effects are being a headache. All dark rides through their calibrating bit, especially because I imagine the new effects didn’t have long to test

Wouldn't surprise me if they changed or just removed the ride car in the mirror effect. I've only seen it work once out of about 5 rides

Wouldn't be surprised if they had a maximum amount of effects that can be broken. Tomb Blaster used to (when it had working effects).
Being my local, Chessington need to sort out tomb blaster. It’s appalling, but it has some good set pieces, give it the Alton manor treatment
