From TowersTimes Twitter/X. Obligatory Merlin shipping container “theming”, supposedly destroyed by the Nemesis creature in the queueline.

Does anyone know the year Merlin’s shipping container obsession began? 2009’s Saw shop?

its just cheap and easy, just buy a load of decommissioned containers that aren't fit for use anymore and use them as buildings and theming. i get that it does seem quite lazy to just put them literally everywhere but its easy to see why they do it, also i imagine in that area the container will have to be moved to let cranes in that area

Oh absolutely, it’s clear they use them because it’s cheap and easy, but they just look so miserable! Does anyone actually enjoy looking at them?

Even Thorpe Park have publically said they are moving away from using shipping containers (in their rebrand videos), so it’s a surprise to see Alton Towers still adding them.

Perhaps we should just wait until it’s painted and themed, I mean it could have a monster coming out of it or anything? Shipping containers can be utilised well. I mean we’re kinda forgetting the nemesis monster is one big shipping container and actually the whole area “rustic look” was majority shipping containers anyway? This is one area where they actually get away with it quite well to be honest.

In my opinion the new nemeses monster/station track and theming looks pretty outstanding to me so far!

As for forbidden valley it’s a beautiful landscaped area and quite unique, it was full of rustic looking shipping containers anyway. Some of which are currently getting demolished and rebuilt, so painting them black and adding little touches whatever they will be, in my eyes is a welcome improvement and will be noticeable to guests. New theming and a story is always welcome, talks of new cafe, nemeses shop and potential new flat…to say this is a downgrade project baffles me, to me you only have to look at the arcade container to realise this area is going to look much smarter! Hopefully they will paint Sub terror to black, red or grey. I actually think it be really nice to have the same colour pallet running consistent through an entire area.

Merlin are stepping away from the darker colours and themes we have seen this and they address this issue. However this is an area where the darker theme really has always suited, I wouldn’t want overly bright colours and fun theming as this wouldn’t compliment Nemesis at all. So I’m going to blame closed season blues on this one.

I think you are confusing Shipping Containers with metal structures. Nemesis station isn't a shipping container, it's a metal building. Similar material, but completely different size and shape. It doesn't look boxy and it's big enough to feel spacious. Same with the other themeing elements, with maybe the exception of the photo booth, which in general does have the shape of a container.
The issue with Shipping Containers is that they are boxy, and not especially interesting to look at. Sure they are cheap, but that's only a bonus if the money saved goes into making them look really good.
As long as this container is in this new extended queue and away from the ride area I'm fine with it. But it doesn't add anything to what is already there.

If someone could put the picture in that'd be great, but confirmed this morning in a press release to be called Nemesis Reborn and a new promo image.

The Towers Website has also gained a Nemesis Reborn page, with better quality versions of the various assets.

As well as a re-written Nemesis legend:

Maybe Phalanx have links to the Umbrella Corporation?

Very Lovecraftian in the new design. Presume Sub-Terra will be getting new graphics to coincide if its remaining?

Somebody just watched Dune and liked the sandworm mouth I reckon.

I guess this should mean that they will be doing a wholesale redecoration exercise of that area so it fits in.. one would hope, at least.
