I think they looked at other theme parks in the Devon, Somerset and Cornwall area and noticed that the parks easily operate with a young family market. Watermouth castle you can go on everything if your over 0.9mAh yes rides for younger children in other words cheap fairground rides that cost a fraction to run than what they removed. The park has burnt its bridges with the locals and there is zero reason to visit. It's Lightwater Valley by the sea.
It was pretty much a kiddies park to begin with baring one or two rides. Ripping out the family coaster and log flume don't seem like a wise choice and these is pretty much nothing left at the park baring a waltzer and some crappy go karts. Other parks like Crealys are struggling operating in the same market.I think they looked at other theme parks in the Devon, Somerset and Cornwall area and noticed that the parks easily operate with a young family market. Are they really? I thought Crealys was doing rather well?
Flambards and Dobwalls made a big impression on me as a nipper. The former igniting my #1 childhood fear - The Luftwaffe.Devon and Cornwall have always been famous for small crap family parks.
The counties have always been short of real coasters, and will remain so.
Sorry I ment Camel Creek who are in administrationAre they really? I thought Crealys was doing rather well?
I struggled getting the kids in my care to Devon and Cornwall, because they had been raised on coaster reward schemes.
Ripon, Tamworth or Pickering no problem, but it was a whole new generation that eventually agreed to Cornwall, probably the longest and hardest train journey of my life.
They grumbled at the theme park leaflets, then vanished on a hedonistic journey for a week, turning up occasionally for rehydration, daytime sleep, food and more money for "pop and sweets"...
Honestly your honour, pop and sweets money.

Brean are currently in the process of flogging their KMG Miami and Afterburner. Have been listed for sale on various groups.
Can’t say I care much about the Miami but the Afterburner runs a fairly alright cycle. Interested to see if there will be replacements.

I visited Ocean Beach in South Shields today, the park isn’t looking too bad this season.

They’ve painted up the artwork on their Breakdance that they got last year, the faded disco themed backflash featuring Tina Turner has been replaced with this artwork.

They’ve got a new frisbee ride called Space, the manufacturer is a bit of an obscure one as it’s from the Czech manufacturer Confolding Group. I was nicely surprised by this ride, it’s got a nice kick to it.

The observation wheel has also returned.

This is the second Huss one to appear at the park in recent years. Showman William Houghton presented his imported Break Dance a couple of years ago, prior to it going to to Kuwait. This one owned by Sheerans was imported from Japan in 2020.How was I not aware there is an actuall Huss breaker in the UK now‽

Moments ago, Flambards have announced on their social media pages that Skyforce has reopened after the main motor has been replaced.
This gives hope that Hornet could get a reprieve either soon or in 2025.

Hasn't the Hornet been torn down already? At least I'm sure I saw that somewhere...

Agreed, the place needs a buyout from a company that doesn't currently or previously own Lightwater ValleyFlambards is absolutely cooked. Their rep with the locals is terrible especially those who bought season passes. I genuinely think the park is running out of cash hence the ride closures. I think it may only have a year or two left.

Skyforce is a start but if they're to get back to where it was before, it needs Hornet back or a replacement coaster in place for the 2025 season.

Is Camel Creek in Cornwall still owned by the company previously owned by John Broome, or was it sold to another owner before he passed away?
