Lyon boss has been handed a nine-month ban for confronting the referee, yet the Millwall keeper gets just three games for a insane flying tackle which resulted in 25 stitches for the other player 🤦‍♂️

A hilarious side note to this. The manager kicked off initially because the referee awarded a penalty. Was sent off for his nonsense and then VAR rescinded the penalty decision.

Given France's current relation with referees, with Marseille's owner going on a rant recently and receiving a 15 game ban for it, their FA equivalent have gone down hard.

Very different situation to the Millwall keeper. Where the FA are also seeking to increase the ban through proper channels. Not sure if it's the right call beyond it being a deterrent to other players to be reckless, as if you base a ban off an injury to another player (given how many serious injuries often come about from innocuous challenges) would open a can of worms.

I once Chris Morgan of Sheffield United. Elbow Ian Hume of Barnsley, it what was nothing more than physical assault. Wrecked his career, he was In hospital with horrific head injury for a long time

I have never seen a ref bottle a situation. Having just sent 1 of each side off, after a brawl. Morgan received a yellow.

I'd argue for 5. He was dangerously reckless, more so than the 3 match you'd get from pulling someone back as last man. A bit of a dissuader for others trying such antics.
Pulling someone back as the last man (professional foul) is only a 1 game ban. 3 games is the standard for violent conduct, and I think that is right here.

Morgan should have been charged for assault there, but you can get away with that on a football pitch.

Morgan was a nasty piece of work.

And never forgiven Craig Dawson for his forearm smash on Speroni many years ago. Which Clattenburg ignored because he was bloody useless.

I think a 3 game ban for the Millwall keeper is correct. The main justification for increasing the length of the ban would be to see the reaction from their fans.

It was an horrendous challenge, but ultimately he was attempting to go for the ball.
It's been increased to six games now by an independent pannel.

Another season where Sky will be bigging up the race for Europe because everything else will be sorted.

Long as Citeh get knocked out the FA Cup to make that at least somewhat interesting.

It's good to see that the circus at Manchester United continues, with plans to build the world's largest circus tent unveiled:

Butlin's Old Trafford, spectacular! :tearsofjoy:

It looks bloody awful. But so do most of the identical soulless bowls that blot the local landscape.

Might be falling apart but I do like Old Trafford. Helps that we win most of time I've seen Palace there mind. But it's that old school style stadium that are slowly disappearing. Shame.

You still have many old school stadiums in Scotland but even then most of them, mainly in the lower leagues, have long since past their sell by dates looking hopelessly out of date and simply not fit for purpose and in time many of these stadiums will eventually be replaced by the cookie cutter stadium design.

Match going United fan here.....

Personally I think it looks amazing. Very unique and modern looking and I especially like the Devil's Trident effect. Like the twin Towers of the old Wembley or the Arch of the new one......it gives the stadium a prominent stand out feature on the sky line.

Can't wait to see if it looks anything like the artist impression once built.

Also enjoy those Palace wins while you can. They won't last forever. ;)

I think it looks spectacular myself. Each to their own.

Is it actually meant to be a trident?

So instantly fails as a design as it looks more like a Butlins.

For the record I'm not particularly fond of the design for Palace's new stand. If that ever gets built. I'm probably just biased towards decrepit old fashioned stadia.

Be amazed if that happens.

If it does, it could be destroy the club. United are potentially a few years away from building a side to challenge top four. Huge amount of deadwood on HUGE wages that can't be shifted. Not alot of space to rebuild. Judging by the way they have handled transfers for the past few years. Not good. Sir Jim saying the cash is running out aswell. Oh oh.

I'm guessing taking free dinners for the staff away will contribute a huge amount
