Lyon boss has been handed a nine-month ban for confronting the referee, yet the Millwall keeper gets just three games for a insane flying tackle which resulted in 25 stitches for the other player![]()
A hilarious side note to this. The manager kicked off initially because the referee awarded a penalty. Was sent off for his nonsense and then VAR rescinded the penalty decision.
Given France's current relation with referees, with Marseille's owner going on a rant recently and receiving a 15 game ban for it, their FA equivalent have gone down hard.
Very different situation to the Millwall keeper. Where the FA are also seeking to increase the ban through proper channels. Not sure if it's the right call beyond it being a deterrent to other players to be reckless, as if you base a ban off an injury to another player (given how many serious injuries often come about from innocuous challenges) would open a can of worms.
