Funny things you've overheard people say in queuelines

On Hyperia on Monday (on SRQ stairs). At the back, some guy joins from the normal queue. "Why?" I ask - because my other two mates are together and I'm a single rider!! (Quickly told him to go back into the normal stairway).

Also on Hyperia, 4 girls in the SRQ. One of them says "I'm not riding with a stranger - it'll freak me out". I try and explain how the SRQ works, to be told "Can you shut up, you're scaring her....". Er, OK.

For the first one, I think having the term "Single Riders" on the top of entrance to the stairs is a bit ambiguous and can confuse people. It definitely needs to say "Single Rider Queue" instead.

That second one really drives me crazy to be honest, that's what single rider is for?

The other day, there was a full family (dad and 3 kids) in the single rider queue and the dad was getting funny because the kids were getting batched on their own with the youngest crying.

The staff member was very good explaining that it's a single rider queue and that it isn't fair on those in the main queue.

There definitely needs to be a staff member on the entrance like Smiler does for Hyperia. It would stop people using it as a fast track and trying to ride together.

If that was Sunday I was there too for that! It bothered me that the bloke wouldnt accept he'd joined the wrong queue and just stood there with a crying child. I thought the host dealt with it very well. It amazes me how many parents seem to be happy to force unwilling children onto rides. I've occasionally had to encourage Chimp onto a ride but if she's not keen I've never pushed her to the point of tears. First time we went for oblivion she noped after we'd queued and just waited at the exit for me. Went back on it later in the day and she was fine to ride.

Was unfortunate to be sat behind a girl having hysterics on a coaster at Oakwood because her dad insisted she had to ride it. She was terrified, sobbing, screaming the works, not having a good time, and neither did the rest of us tbh...
 
People just trying it on. It's not difficult to understand!! Saw one poor dude (in tears) who obv wasn't tall enough being taken to the ride exit by staff whilst his Dad rode. Shitty parents 😟😡

We were on Jurassic Park River Adventure at Universal and not long after setting off we heard from a small child in front "Mommy, you know I don't like dinosaurs", followed by wriggling, crying and screaming for most of the rest of the ride.

Yes, that was Sunday so think we might be talking about the same family - it bothered me too about that as why would you go through single riders with young children who'd want to ride together.

I totally agree that the host dealt with it very well, explained it clear as day and stood her ground.

Nah it's pushy parents who bully their kids to go on a ride they don't want to because they think they need to "man up" or whatever. I think a lot of kids do need encouragement to overcome their fears, but if you've got to the point where they are crying in the station it's time to call a halt.
 
Saw that happen on Curse the other week. Was heading up the steps to the merge point when a small kid ran out the door screaming his head off, only for his mum to grab him and drag him back in. He was bawling as she carried him through the queue, and when she put him in the car he immediately bolted. Again she tried to grab him, but at that point the ride host stepped in and told them they couldn’t ride.

Makes me wonder if thats an official policy at Towers? Quite aside from the psychological trauma, accidents have happened when people freak out and try to climb out of a moving vehicle.
 
Yeah, a kid in a panic on a dark ride, is as much of a liability as a small dog in a panic on bonfire night. Someone's gonna end up bleeding.

The worst part is, that the type of parent who would force that on their kid is most likely the type to gaslight said kid when told they cannot ride.
"See what happens when you act up? This is all your fault! You've ruined the family day out!"
And so forth.
