Is there not a way you can feed it digitally? Do you not lose some fidelity from feeding it of the 3.5mm jack?

…Although as I’m writing this I realise it probably doesn’t matter that much since it’s a sound to light rig.

Oh, the actual audio I listen to is fully HDMI into my 7.1 system. This was purely for my flashy lights when listening to music. ;)
Edit to add: This is all part of the deliciously analogue set up I have on top of my digital surround amp. It includes a rack mounted patch field of 1/4" jacks. And a small rack.
What? Gotta put all the stuff somewhere. What not rack mount it?

A few weeks ago we did a software update on our Virgin box. Ever since then, I've not been getting any analogue audio out of the 3.5mm jack on the back (I feed this to the sound to light input of my rig.... What?)
...
I finally found why I wasn't getting audio out of that socket.
...
You're gonna love this.

Not one, but two of the cables between the v6 box and my audio jack field had both spontaneously decided to break at the same time! What are the odds‽ You can see why even after replacing the first I would think it wasn't an issue at my end. 🤣

Seriously though, what are the odds of TWO wires knackering at the same time, and it coinciding perfectly with the software update?
That would have driven my absolutely potty. The trouble-shooter in me knows to test every point of failure but I simply wouldn't have considered that both wires had failed. Sleepless nights would have been had.

Oh believe me, sleep has been very rare lately.

Thinking about it, there are a lot of points in that chain to check...
V6 box output > 3.5mm jack to phono [FAILED] > phono cable round the room > phono to 1/4" jack > 1/4" jackfield > 1/4" patch lead > 1/4" jackfield > 1/4" to phono [FAILED] > inline volume control > phono cable > input to lighting desk

No wonder it took until we tried plugging a different source in to the start if that chain to realise there was an air gap.
