Oh, the actual audio I listen to is fully HDMI into my 7.1 system. This was purely for my flashy lights when listening to music.
Edit to add: This is all part of the deliciously analogue set up I have on top of my digital surround amp. It includes a rack mounted patch field of 1/4" jacks. And a small rack.
What? Gotta put all the stuff somewhere. What not rack mount it?

That would have driven my absolutely potty. The trouble-shooter in me knows to test every point of failure but I simply wouldn't have considered that both wires had failed. Sleepless nights would have been had.A few weeks ago we did a software update on our Virgin box. Ever since then, I've not been getting any analogue audio out of the 3.5mm jack on the back (I feed this to the sound to light input of my rig.... What?)
...
I finally found why I wasn't getting audio out of that socket.
...
You're gonna love this.
...
Not one, but two of the cables between the v6 box and my audio jack field had both spontaneously decided to break at the same time! What are the odds‽ You can see why even after replacing the first I would think it wasn't an issue at my end.
Seriously though, what are the odds of TWO wires knackering at the same time, and it coinciding perfectly with the software update?

Oh believe me, sleep has been very rare lately. That would have driven my absolutely potty. The trouble-shooter in me knows to test every point of failure but I simply wouldn't have considered that both wires had failed. Sleepless nights would have been had.
Thinking about it, there are a lot of points in that chain to check...
V6 box output > 3.5mm jack to phono [FAILED] > phono cable round the room > phono to 1/4" jack > 1/4" jackfield > 1/4" patch lead > 1/4" jackfield > 1/4" to phono [FAILED] > inline volume control > phono cable > input to lighting desk
No wonder it took until we tried plugging a different source in to the start of that chain to realise there was an air gap.

That's a lot of people on the internet!People on the internet who respond with insults when someone asks a polite question.
Social media groups are the worst, Facebook in particular. There's no sense of community so people act like total a-holes to each other. Best thing to do is disengage.
I'm doing regular social media detoxes these days just to stay sane. One of the reasons I stick around here is because - generally - people are more respectful because we're part of a community. That's not to say things don't get a bit heated sometimes but it doesn't generally descend into mudslinging and flame wars, and we have the mods that do an excellent job of keeping stuff like that in check.
Or never engage in the first place.... Best thing to do is disengage. ...

Useless job adverts.
As I’m in a job and not currently actively seeking a job, this isn’t particularly bad for me personally (I simply forgot to turn off all the job alerts from when I was in university), but no matter what parameters you specify, it seems like they love to send you things that are of little to no relevance!
The type of alert I specified when looking for roles in university, at a broad level, tended to be “graduate level data roles within a commutable distance of my home”. This would, in my head, recommend entry-level roles in data science, data analytics, data engineering et al within a circle roughly encompassing Cardiff, Newport, Bristol, Gloucester and Cheltenham, maybe reaching a bit further north/southeast/west at a push, so broadly speaking, the northern part of South West England interspersed with the southwestern part of the West Midlands and South East Wales.
However, I’ve found that they love to spam me with emails recommending jobs that are either out of area, above my experience level or just flat out irrelevant. To an extent, out of area is fair enough (Birmingham, for example, is not that obscene, nor is somewhere like Swindon or Bridgend), but it loves to recommend jobs in places like London, Yorkshire, Newcastle and even Scotland! Even though I specified graduate level, they also love to recommend senior roles, lead roles, or even in one case, the Director of Statistics or something similarly prestigious at the ONS, netting a £150,000 annual salary!
And then you have the ones that are totally irrelevant (which triggered my rant today). Glassdoor currently has an infatuation with telling me to move to America and become a special agent in the FBI, for inexplicable reasons, with it having sent me 2 or 3 emails within the last couple of days! The university’s job site would tell me it had an opportunity picked out for me, and it would turn out to be something like “trainee driving instructor” or “community police officer” despite me specifying search terms!
I do sometimes wish the job alerts more useful…
