Paultons Park: General Discussion

Like the top most visited like Futuroscope, Tivoli Gardens, Efteling or Europa Park
To reach the popularity of those sorts of parks (or indeed even to really compete with the likes of Alton Towers) it would require them to significantly shift their business model.

Paultons are aimed squarely at the family market, they are not really a park where you would likely find a group of adults going for the day (coaster/theme park enthusiasts aside). This is why all the conversation around Paultons getting 'too busy' and their current rides not being high capacity enough is a little redundant. Unless I'm missing something, Paultons Park have never expressed an interest in expanding their demographic beyond families - or certainly none of their additions have demonstrated an interest in a wider market.

They just seem to be aiming to be a really good family park, where families can go for a good day out (and at some point a short break) and have a fun day, as a family.

Yeah they're not competing with them anything soon.

The amount of investment and development that would require is far beyond their current plans. But they don't need to hit those levels, and there are plenty of other parks that are perfectly attainable levels to what Paultons could become.

Agreed with the above, based on available space, location, history, required investment etc. best they could hope for is a strong regional, partially national, family park. Like a higher quality Drayton Manor/Flamingo Land.

Based on current trajectory they’ll certainly get there.

They could end up being the best park in the UK aside from Universal, some would argue they already are but I think they will need a large signature coaster at some point to take that position. I expect it will stay a family park for the foreseeable, it will be interesting to see what happens when they run out of development space.

Onto that point, we have Plopsaland De Panne which is aimed at the same market although it has the Ride to Happiness

I can't imagine a drastic shift in business model to bring in a headliner although once they have said headliner, more people will start coming specifically for that coaster.

I have heard before Paultons mentioning expanding to a wider market and Drakon is the first sign of doing so, exactly what Anubis was to Plopsaland.

I doubt it. Paultons is never particularly busy to the same level as parks like Thorpe, Drayton, or Blackpool, let alone parks like Towers, Chessington, or Legoland. I imagine Drakon having fairly short queues unless they begin focusing on the thrill market with some other thrill coasters (I remember hearing about a Mack powersplash??)

I think it's more of a future vision for the thrill market

A PowerSplash has been speculated but the consensus is a Mack Water Coaster of some form. It could be a PowerSplash, SuperSplash, Water Coaster, Launched Water Coaster (like Plohn) or a Rocking Boat

It's unclear which of those it is yet

The consensus of Thoosie vapours. Not a consensus of fact.

Only bit of known evidence of what it might be is Mack ground pins and it is not currently clear what it could be other than the thoosie conclusion that it's some form of water coaster. It's from Theme Park Guide.

There's a possibility that Mack could have developed their next gen flume equivalent (to what Intamin are doing) and are building it although I think the Rocking Boat has filled that gap.
