I love TS new facebook update. . Just for the little death smiley logo on the giggler :p

Likewise I love it too, little details like this on rides really make differences. Absolutely adoring this ride so far ;D

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

I wouldn't mind if the shop had a glass front wall either ;)

Latest update from TowersStreet Facebook: "Pipes are being added to the side of the building"

I must say, this being a concrete building will look terrible when it ages. I highly doubt they will clean it often enough to stay looking fresh.

Isn't that the point, as- from the original plans at least- it's meant to be run-down and sinister. I'm not sure if it'll be like those plans, but if it's like it is in the game, surely they'll paint it yellow- covering up the concrete?

I'm not sure about the reliability of Ride Rater for news, but It would be a rather unusual and pointless story to make up or to exaggerate. The date seems about right for me, get the lift hill up over the next week and they'll have a full month of testing... it could be legit.

it's a date that has been through the rumour mill which is often accurate, the only issue is these dates are geenrally target dates for Towers and if there are any further delays things can change again. I would expect at the moment that the 18th is accurate but don't make any set plans as i genuinely think the moment Towers are sure 100% of the opening date they will announce it so until they do it's at liberty to change.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

So far they've only added pipes to the side which will mostly be hidden away. There's scaffolding on the front of the station, so I'd hold on to hope they are going to do more than just add pipes to that side.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Well they have fake boarded up windows to install still based upon the plans.

But I think if they don't do some more cladding it's going to look hideous tbh.

The idea of a shipping container shop is the first thing to make my heart skip a beat. I get it, shipping containers make great shops, but I do hope that they make some kind of effort to disguise it!

I believe The Smiler will have a proper shop for a change. If they end up using a shipping container, it'll at least be well disguised.

The shipping container would be a queueline shop if anything.

In the game, theres mr smiley logos spray painted over part of the outside station building. :twirly: :twirly:

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Just to point out, alot of people have been surprised at how small the antenna atop of the marmaliser is...even though looking at the plans, it's clearly shows it as the structure we have now. Even on the very first marmaliser structure it had a small antenna on top...

Also, it still baffles me as to how alton obtained planning permission for this brightly themed monster of a ride to be built closer(!!) to the ropers house than oblivion!

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Just uploaded, shows work still going on near the first lift hill and around the trench. Both cranes on from the access road so some lifting of supports/track should start soon, probably tomorrow.

Very tired of the unjust negativity now. I was going to single people out but I've decided to behave, however as an example one person has now posted in this thread 12 times in the last 48 hours and every single one of their posts has been a complaint.

Me, by any chance?

I wouldn't say they were all complaints, a lot yes, but many of them gave a balanced viewpoint..

I can't get over the profiling of that final inversion... Would be amazing if it went through that inversion as you lined up for the lift hill!

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Thing is, as long as the two trains start together, one actually will go through the inversion at the same time the train behind approaches the lift.

:D

Looking at where they've built the brake run to, could there be space for yet another inversion there after the turn over the lead into the vertical lift, before the final brake run? Thus making what now appears to be the final inversion actually the penultimate one. I'm not sure it would add anything but was there not a rumour that it would have 15 inversions?

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

How much track do they need! I'd of thought all had been delivered!

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

This is all track being delivered from the car park, all they have left to move onto the site is the final turn into the breaks, lifts, and the drops.

I suppose that could be the drop off of the first lift hill?
