Scarefest 2012

It's half term. The busiest half term of the entire year.. 6pm makes sense on usual days, but surely it'd just make sense to keep 9pm but have a non-event day? Thereby at least not doubly disappointing everyone who visits who doesn't realise its not an event.

Contrary to what the Facebook page recently suggests, the general public aren't usually retarded enough to not do a spec of research before a costly day out.

My half term is different to the local schools' around the area, for reasons unknown.
So, expect some children. ;)

I'm quite excited for Scarefest this year!
It appears that the park is trying to redeem itself after the shambles last year!

Outside the towers entrance. (Picture shown where) Was a white Ford Transit obviously having something to do with the Scarefest Mazes.

This shot was taken from inside the conservatory. I don't have a clue what all this contents are inside the music room.

As i visit the Resort every week i will try to keep this thread updated as much as i can.

I think the 6pm close on the interim day is more than justified... From what I've gathered it was a rush in the 3 early-closing days last year for the techies to program everything for Fireworks, I don't envy them only having one night with everyone out of the park to do it all, given the scale!

I think they WILL find a fair few disappointed guests on the interim day.

I notice that Thrope Parks Frightnights this year run Friday 12th - Sunday 14th Oct, Friday 19th - Sunday 21st Oct and Friday 26th Oct - Sunday 4th Nov.

In other Scarefest news, I noticed yesterday when leaving Hex, that all the windows in the bottom of the west wing (side of the towers the public arnt allowed in) have been boarded up the same as the rest of the towers. So im pretty sure the new maze will run on the bottom floor of this part of the towers.

There seems to be a lot of curved pieces there. Perhaps some sort of tunnel?

There is potential to use 2 floors of the West Wing as they are structurally sound, its only the very end of the west wing where it joined the Talbot Gallery that is unsafe, there is a large staircase too that would accomodate guests but you would have to use the basement floor and the 1st floor as the ground floor has the old recording studio and its only real exit is through the archives which is unlikely.

That's not quite true. The recording studio is on the 1st floor, not the ground floor. And there is an exit which doesn't come through the archives, but does exit into the exit of ToTT.

The West Wing does have potential, but inside there it is VERY messy, and would require a lot of work to get it ready, and safe. They are structurally sound, but most of the rooms are used as storage, and are boarded up into smaller rooms. Unless some major work has gone on in the over the course of the last season or two, I can't really see it happening. But I'm prepared to eat my words!

The studio is on the Ground floor if you class the floor below as the basement which it often is called as the floor with the studio in is at the ground level if you consider the star garden which was "ground level" for the residents of the Towers in days gone by so thats how i described it in the post. The exit on that level is a floor above the exit of ToTT and thats at the level of the archives, or you can drop down to the level below (basement/ ground) which would feed back into the ToTT exit. The west wing would need a good clean though.

:)

This area is/was used by the studios for storage though - and we've seen studios being relatively busy around that building by the train station. Putting two and two together?

Very true Could be the main reason they moved hopefully the new maze is going be good

Awesome!

Great to see they've gone back on the decision not to have them back. Well done Alton, a step in the right direction! :D

They really do seem to be putting a lot of effort into Scarefest this year!

Oh, and here is the rest of the Scare Room info:

Oh this is fabulous news! I would be so tempted to go for it if it wasn't for the expense :( Still, I'm sure that those who opt in are in for great evenings!

Taking the Saturday of half term (26.10):

Room for 4: £238.50
Supplement: £281.25
TOTAL: £519.75
= £129.93pp

Sorry. It's a rip off. It is the only element of Scarefest I find to be an absolute and utter extortion of a price. Mind you, if people are stupid enough to part with that sort of cash - more fool them. At least it includes a meal.

You could go abroad for not a lot more!

£129 - includes breakfast, and a 3 course meal. So that'll be worth a good £30 anyway.

Then you've got what.. 3hrs of almost exclusive entertainment? Plus entire atmosphere anyway...

I thought it was expensive, but when you break it down per person, its incredibly worth it in my eyes.
