It’s ridiculous! The queue for The Smiler is massive already because there’s literally nothing else to go on! Either broken down or shut!

We’ve left The Wickerman queue as it’s still broken down. Come to RMT and are queuing back to Duel waiting for the gates to open!!!!!!! Ridiculous!!!!
A ride attendant just told my sister they test Wickerman so late as they can to save gas on the special effects?!?!?!

I'm pretty sure that they can test it without having the fire effects on? Maybe have them on one or two runs before opening, but that excuse is poor

EDIT: And only half of the 11am coasters open as well! Brilliant

and....

Haha!

Feels a little bit like Thorpe Park syndrome whereby there is a great product to be had if they are able to deliver it consistently.

I wouldn’t say a great product overall, there is a good rollercoaster line up at Towers, there is a good young children’s product also. There is nothing for the young family line-up, there is nothing worth noting in the flat rides category or the dark rides category, f&b has deteriorated considerably as has entertainments.

Then add the fact that a large proportion of the coasters don’t open until 11am, per ride capacity has been reduced by 50% on some rides and fast track is both oversold and given out far too easily as compensation for the inevitable bad day people are having and I would say you have a decidedly below average park with a few high quality baubles attached.

Almost the proverbial brown stuff rolled in glitter.

As excited as I am about Wicker Man, this isn't exactly jazzing me up for my upcoming visit. One thing that has always been reliable about Alton Towers was that, due to the size of the park and the number of big coasters, you could always ride something good without suffering an unreasonable queue. Usually, that would be Nemesis. The park seem to be moving in Thorpe Park's direction: Overselling Fastrack, removing SRQ, opening rides late.... Guests need options. The whole reason of having a broad portfolio of attractions is to spread guests out and offer choice, surely? The park may as well be guiding guests around the park in large groups at the moment, given the chaos that seems to be taking place every morning.

Pro's:

Best coaster line up anywhere in Europe (when they are open and running with all trains)

Cbeebies has been a huge hit

Negatives:

How long have you got?

Francis will be the first one blamed and deported for this faff, even if it isn't his fault.

Operations Manager = Buck stops with you when things go tits up.

When thing go right, you don't get any of the credit either, that's for Merlin management to pat themselves on the back over.
