That 2 metre request is pointless though, if you feel ill then you’d of been ill when you arrived at the park.

For example you go on Oblivion, the queue line you are stood right next to people. Then on the ride staff doing restraint checks are closer than 2 metre and the people either side of you are right next to you.
Yeah there’s no way around it really. Probably just following government advice.

Imagine all those people man handling those horrible paper drinking straws in the fast food outlets, and then you go and put them into your mouths, I'm so glad that we carry our own reusable glass (and we also carry plastic ones too) straws around with us.

Any queue over 10 minutes just start coughing, shout "I'm feeling ill, get back 2 metres" and start walking to the front of the queue. Instantly recover before heading into the station.

Free fastpass!

Why would that make a difference? You wouldn’t touch it after you’d sanitised

A previous employer of mine was a little hot on Health & Safety. Back when there was the Swine Flu outbreak, automatic hand sanitiser dispensers appeared throughout the building. You just put your hand under the dispenser for a dollop of sanitiser to be dispensed. Unfortunately, the sanitiser dispensed had a very high alcohol content and a smoker over sanitised her hands before going outside for a cigarette. She suffered some burns & the sanitisers were all removed overnight.

The same company stopped serving fried eggs at breakfast as one of the kitchen staff burned themselves with hot oil from the pan used to fry the eggs. You could not make it up, but it happened.

The bigger problem with hand sanitiser at Towers would be certain elements of guests wanting to drink it if it has a high alcohol content. I have certainly read reports in the past of prisoners drinking hand sanitiser for the alcohol content.

Prisoners, yes, but I think it's a little alarmist to imagine people dosing themselves up on hand sanitiser at Alton Towers. Even on Easter Sunday!

I might be optimistic but I think this'll be a great season. Especially with the new attraction 'World Of David Walliams' and themed events for the 40th anniversary. That's more than we got last year. Hopefully we'll get some really quiet days with the current coronavirus media frenzy too :D

Then again, could be closed for months, until the summer.
Next few days and we will find out.

I think we'll just have to take it as the park being open for now as that seems to be the plan forward. Hopefully it'll be operating as the cases are still quite low, but as you said, we'll find out within the next few days.

A British person has died from Coronovirus according to Royal Berkshire NHS trust.

Back to Towers. Towers probably won't have much choice in if they remain open or not. If the government start to close schools and colleges down then places like Towers will be under pressure to close too. No point in schools being closed to contain the spread and then allowing people to start mixing in theme parks.

What’s interesting in if Towers opens to the public on 21st is how the next two weekends of private hire goes. As long as there is no issues arising from those then it’ll be fine barring government orders.

Boris Johnson has come out and said that things like school closures and event cancellations "don't work as well as some think", so I think the government is quite hesitant to go down that route.
