Theme Park Worldwide

As others have said it's an ongoing investigation so probably advised not to talk about it on social media.

Seeing as the most serious allegations are not directed at Shaun directly, but other people, then i can see why he's carrying on just with Charlotte.

A further reminder that individuals accused and specifics of the allegations are not to be discussed. Thanks.

Whilst I don't wish to censor discussion, I do need to make a few things clear.

As has been mentioned, it's been stated that the police have been contacted regarding the allegations. Therefore it is imperative that both as a site and also everyone else as individuals do not do anything to interfere with that process.

As a small site we do not have the ability to evaluate the legalities of each individual post discussing allegations. Therefore I would ask everyone to not name individuals who have not been found guilty of offences within this topic.

In addition whilst I don't wish to stop people discussing the allegations in general, for the same reasons please avoid posting specifics.

Any posts not adhering to the above will be removed. If posts continue to go against the above requests, then this topic will be temporarily locked. Thanks in advance for your support.

Well I watched his vlog of Alton Towers and Blackpool and it’s nice to see the parks don’t look as bad as I thought they would be with the markings and the cleaning stations and it’s good that he listened to my advice about keeping his vlogs under a hour long.

Yes, I was impressed with what I saw as well. I quite enjoyed seeing areas of AT that you don't normally get to see - such as the extended Nemesis queue line.

I was unbelievably impressed with the one way system (more than is probably appropriate). I've been unfortunate enough to experience recently, in a lot of places where visitors are expected to use the same walkway but each side is clearly for one direction......and clearly they can't understand what one way means :banghead: .... I expected the route around the rapids to be halved in this way also, so for them to make the whole area one way, and open up a path by Wicker Man so people could walk in the opposite direction.... genius.

As someone who wears gloves when I go out (I don't buy into the theory they are useless, if you treat your gloves as "contaminated" don't touch anything on your person, and remove them immediately when you're done shopping etc, it means you're hands themselves are perfectly clean) I'm still not sure even with all the hand sanitisers and the cleaning if I would go and touch multiple things and hope the hand gels do their stuff. But that's me personally, the actual system they have at AT seems more than adequate.

I also thought the chevrons in the ride queues allowing people to not just be two metres apart when you're standing behind someone, but also stand opposite the person in the queue line next to you was quite clever, and I've not seen that anywhere before.

Blackpool was the one I was most unsure about, but after viewing his footage both me and my brother are planning on visiting in the next few weeks, and finally getting to ride Icon! Liked what I saw regarding the social distancing, lots of hand sanitisers again. If I can make it through a four floor Primark in the centre of Liverpool then Blackpool Pleasure Beach is no problem. :sunglasses:

I think from our point of view, Blackpool has a lot more rides open and also a greater variety. It seemed everyone in AT was going for the big rides and therefore queue times were pretty bad. Blackpool I'm hoping because they offer a lot more, will spread out the people more as well.

The videos were definitely informative, was not as long as I expected - but then again it didn't need to be, I saw everything I needed, expect maybe a bit more information about the food available and also perhaps the toilet situation.

But overall, I found out what I wanted, and as such our original plan of going to AT has now changed to Blackpool because of what we saw.

(And I really want to try Icon)

I did try to and watch other videos while I waited for Shawn to upload his from Blackpool - dear God, they were so amateur. I don't need to see someone walking halfway through the town centre or hear about your life story before you enter the park. Show me the social distancing, show me the queues, thank you.

(although one person did mention how they send you an email for Blackpool and you have to fill in a form with the details of everyone who is visiting and also they need photographs of those people)

Just watched the Thorpe Park vlog and it does to show it don’t matter what the park do with social distancing markers teens and young adults just paying no attention to them and standing next to each other talking. Then they have rows of rides just with 1 seat in use why don’t they use the 2 end rows. It’s nice to know how big the queues and how long you got to wait between them cleaning the trains.

We're going away from actual discussion about ThemeParkWorldwide in here. If you want to discuss park procedures etc, please use the relevant topic (e.g the Thorpe Park topic) referring to the TPWW video. Otherwise we're just going to be duplicating discussion. Thanks :).

That pretty much sums it up.

I'm glad he got the chance to do the main theme parks in the UK before his European trip. I was hoping with AT being his local as it were, that sometime in the week following his visit he would be going again so I could see what operations are like after they've been open a little while.

I guess that will have to wait, but I would imagine he would be taking another look at AT not long after he is back.

I'm hoping he might include DLP in his visit, someone did ask but as he said weeks ago, he wouldn't be revealing parks and dates etc as everything could change in the last moment. I think Disney will be open while he is on his trip, so we'll have to see.

It will also be interesting (not that I'm going to need it) to see what procedures will be like on many aspects of his trip such as the hotels or even eating places.

@Craig - Sorry, I got a bit carried away in my post with just general theme park stuff, I was just pleased to be able to discuss the things I saw due to his videos. :)

Seems TPWW has deleted/hidden a number of videos over the past couple of days. Not sure which ones though. it equates to 191,000 views so i imagine its a few videos

Not sure what they are either. All the big playlist videos such as the USA road trip trip are still up there and there are lots of other videos from trips he has either made by himself or with other people that I have watched and can see they are still up there, so I don't know about the numbers.

As far as I know, in the playlist section there have always been 700+ vlogs and it is still in the 700's now.

This has come as a surprise to say the least.

I can’t say I’m huge fan of TPWW although I do watch it relatively often, usually just through boredom but I do find some of the content useful even if it is a bit cheesy and repetitive for my taste.

I haven’t trawled through all of the allegations, much of it seems to have been deleted but the majority of it seems unpleasant and certainly a reason for those involved not to appear on the channel any further. That said, a lot of it is probably not criminal, save for a few allegations, the nature of which I won’t discuss out of respect of the requests made by the moderators of this site.

Assuming that Shawn has not been involved in any of this behaviour, and assuming he didn’t have cast iron certainty that any of his contributors were engaging in anything illegal, then it’s difficult to suggest that he should have done anything about it. That said, given the nature of the allegations and how and where they were alleged to have taken place, it’s a little difficult for me to believe that he had no knowledge of them assuming that they are in fact true.

The racist text messages is just absolutely inexcusable assuming they’re genuine. He can apologise, some will probably buy it, I’d personally see it as a view into that person which he didn’t want to be publicly visible. I take the point that it’s a private conversation rather than overt racist abuse and whilst I’d imagine that would be factored into any criminal sanction, it wouldn’t affect how I view the individual.

One final point is that I do find the concept of talking about this stuff on Twitter a bit weird. I’ve spent around an hour reading various accounts and there does seem to be a theme of attention seeking where the person posts an account of something which is usually pretty poor behaviour, but not actually illegal, and then responds to every person saying ‘well done for speaking our,’ with ‘thank you babe,’ it just smacks of attention seeking at times. As ever i have no doubt that there are many genuine people who feel aggrieved with their treatment but as with anything else the attention brigade latch on to it. Indeed if the individual who raised one of the few accounts which, if true, is clearly criminal behaviour, had gone to the police immediately rather than post about it on Twitter then it would have been a pretty swift conviction. Far be it from me to tell anyone how to respond to being the victim of harassment of abuse, but it’s probably not controversial to say that either blocking the offending individual, telling your parents/a trusted person or informing the police if that behaviour is criminal would all be safer bets than posting about it on Twitter, hopefully that message is made clear at some stage during this as if it it, you’d imagine next time it happens the individuals in question will be brought to justice far more swiftly.

@Josh555 I do think Shawn has found himself in a difficult situation, but he has dealt with it poorly - certainly there was no easy way to solve it, but I do think there could have been a better course of action.

As you stated, some of what has been alleged is probably not criminal, but his blanket response has been to suggest that allegations (plural) have been referred to the police, plus anything posted after that has seemingly been ignored. From that you have to surmise that anything that he has deemed not potentially criminal, yet unacceptable, is done with and that's the end of it as far as he is concerned.

I am not sure I want to go as far to defend Shawn, I don't know the man, but I would say that I think I can understand why things have potentially not been addressed in the way that some people would have liked. If there wasn't a livelihood at stake, I think that may have had a larger influence on how things were handled. Additionally, with the lack of a full legal entity, those that Shawn is accountable for is blurry, at best.

The racism accusation against himself going unacknowledged is disappointing to say the least, but that's his prerogative. I'm pretty dubious of cancel culture, I'd be sacked from my job several times over if my private conversations were broadcast - I am not sure many people would get off scott-free, if they were very honest.

Has anyone thought that this has not affected another youtube channel called Coaster Crazy run by one of Shawn's friends who used to hang out with TPW people?!

Not to mention the ice cream 'Reward' that Shawn Sandbrooke bought for the black minor to jump on the kiddie ride with him on the USA Road Trip .... just so TPWW could get the junior coaster credit?

HOH - Hard of Hearing.
