Lightwater Valley

Great shame if they do go down the kids route. Ultimate & Raptor Attack will be missed. Wonder if they’ll sell off Eagles Claw? Or will they class that as a kids ride.

I have visited the park twice in my life. Once years and years ago when I was a kid and another visit about 4 years ago when I was 31. So I'd say a good 20 year gap between my only visits. Place looked stuck in the 80's and 90's even as recently as 4 years ago. It's needed HUGE investment for years.

As for the Ultimate....It's a great unique cred to get but it's honestly such a painful experience. I had 3 rides on it in 2017 on my last trip and that was enough. It's brutal after the second lift hill especially.

I won't miss the place personally.

Raptor Attack is a brilliantly themed rollercoaster and i recently took it up in my rankings after i realized i appreciated it a lot, the Ultimate is still my favourite after my back row crazanity experience so i'd be gutted if both closed because they hold the park up imo!

Schools week seems to be the only time of year when the park is busy. And then, it is very, very, very busy. Virtually all visitors during this time are in the queues for Ultimate and Raptor Attack.

If the closure of these rides means none of the school trips, it’s baffling that the park would consider going down this route.

I actually supported their decision not to open those rides in 2020 since they’d lost schools week. But if they didn’t open those rides next year, then I’d definitely see it as the end for the park. I know that I wouldn’t be able to bring myself to visit if The Ultimate was SBNO.

The park's entire marketing plays on Ulty, they know the significance so I doubt this will be the case. Not sure how much maintenance is on it, but it's an incredibly simple ride (It has no operating brakes for a starter) and I'd be surprised if the place survives without it.

LWV was my first theme park back in the early 90's when my Dad took me as a little nipper. It was a park that had a really good reputation, great rides and attractions and I still remember the layout and scenery to be beautiful.

Walking into the park both young and old, there was the hell slide on the right and the farm, railway and devils cascade on the left which was a great splash coaster with a bridge.

BMX bikes, some western name fort tree house with obstacles where I could have stayed for hours. Go-karts, swan rides and probably a load of other rides I'm missing out from the 90's, then coming up to the big major rides which gave the park special attraction status, the rat ride (raptor attack) was a fantastically themed coaster and still is and still a hell of a ride.

Moving onto the Ultimate, it's a bone shaker but it's not had much love recently like the rest of the park, but it's a once in a lifetime experience and probably worth the entrance fee if you like getting 'bashed aroond tae f*&k'.

LWV and the assets they have could make the park into something spectacular, the landscape they have is like no other, second to Towers IMO. The family should have looked for investors after the installation of the ultimate and it could have been the Towers of the North, mainly due to the location, topography and the investments at that time. I think now they're looking to gain on the younger market while letting Flamingo land have the other visitors.

It's a real shame.

This ^^^^^^ Childhood memories for me also.

I’ve searched the website and can’t find it. Also a google search which leads directly to the park’s site explains the page cannot be found.

Such a shame to see yet another U.K. park take a tumble. Can see the Ultimate (permantly) closing next and this being the next U.K. park casualty.

I'm so glad I managed to get on Ultimate when I did, really can't see it re-opening at this point if they're removing more family-orientated rides than itself in order to work towards a more "family market".

Of course I'd like to be proven wrong, but with Raptor Attack gone that's even more of a reason not to return.
