In that case I'm less confident about Legoland Florida, although I still think it's very plausible. And I still think it's unlikely that we'll see a major (£10 million plus) investment in a Minecraft themed midway attraction in America in the next couple of years. Perhaps something small like a few of the small midways they've developed in Blackpool, but not the scale of attraction capable of being one half of an £85 million investment. If Merlin has some really clever concept for a major new midway attraction then I'll happily be proven wrong, but I'm really not seeing it.

Lego California are building a new indoor coaster and flat ride but as far as I am aware it has a space theme so not this project. (The indoor coaster layout leaked a few months ago and looks like something similar to DarKoaster at Busch.

I also believe that similar plans for an indoor coaster and land at legoland florida have also been made replacing the recently removed Vekoma kids invert. While it was rumoured to be a copy of what’s going into California it could become a Minecraft themed.

The press release mentions they are doing a panel thing at 4pm Orlando time at iappa and they mention they will discuss the global rollout of them, what time will that be in the UK?

Anyone else getting bored of the clear copy and paste nature of Merlin’s developments now.
Not really, makes complete business sense to me if they can build two identical lands in two regional parks thousands of miles apart. Whose going to be visiting Chessington and (for example) Legoland New York and seeing both Minecraft lands, just a handful of enthusiasts and vloggers.

And currently it sounds like it'll be two different ideas using Minecraft branding. Similar to how Chessington have Jumanji with its new area and the coaster and flat rides, whilst Gardaland has it's dark ride, and walk through.

A lot of corporate speak and jargon, nothing of substance other than O’Neil saying that he consults ChatGPT to help him make decisions about the future of Merlin…
You'd be surprised to know that it's become fairly common in the business world for people to ask ChatGPT for advice and data to help guide the direction of their businesses. People I know have been doing it.

I just had a go at using ChatGPT to see what kind of advice Scott O’Neil might be getting. Obviously I don’t know what kind of questions he’s asking it, but here’s what I got.

My question, ‘Hello ChatGPT. My name is Scott O’Neil and I’m the CEO of Merlin. What should our next ride at Alton Towers be?’

ChatGPT answered, ‘Your next ride at Alton Towers should be a 10,000ft long RMC with a 90 mph launch. It should have dual loading, lots of theming and oh, don’t forget to add a single rider queue. If you build this ride, everyone will go to Alton Towers and you will become the Wolf of Wallstreet. Beep bop bop’.

I’m not saying that Alton Towers definitely will build a 10,000ft long RMC, but it does seem likely now.

From AS Facebook, Chessy have submitted the full planning application for Project Refresh and Renew.

I've just read up on some of the documents and it seems very interesting. These are some of the key points.

It is aiming for a 2027 opening.

It seems to be a Intamin Multi Dimension Coaster similar to Uncharted.

The new flat ride is being described as an "Indoor Immersive Experience"

Monkey Swinger, Tuk Tuk Turmoil and Jungle Bus are going into storage until the park decides what to do with them/where to move them. It is probable that all three could be relocated somewhere either at Chessington or at another Merlin park.

The Trail of the Kings and Tiger Rock were considered as alternative sites but were dismissed.

There is huge amount of potential with the dark ride/coaster when you factor the environments Minecraft has. It obviously lends itself to being mine cart themed (which would be easy to do with the multi-dimension car/train), but then whether it's based in an actual dungeon or ventures between the caves, the Nether and the End using portals before using the outdoor section as the overworld is a different question.

Will the 'removed' rides be operational in 2025 does anyone know ?
