Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

Hey everyone and I hope you’re well?

This is the link to the just released model of Lion King water ride at the eventual renamed Disneyland Adventure World Paris.

I don’t know if it’s just me but it’s a bit confusing because it has illustrations from the 2019 remake but the model is from the 1994 animated film.

From the model I assume it’s going to be based on the 1994 version but I don’t understand why add illustrations from the remake?

I hope they don’t but do you think they will combine the theming from both the films?

Another thing I found confusing is in the illustrations the riders are single file but on the model there are rows of riders.
I understand that the pictures are probably for illustration purposes only but I assume they have kinda made a decision from the model. So again I’m unsure why the illustrations were included? Or am I looking into this way too much? lol

What are everyone’s thoughts on the ride and theming?

It's been said by Disney the ride is based on the classic animated version of 1994. I think it looks good but again Disney have gone cheap with one ride and no other. I would have liked to have seen an additional small flat ride.to support the land.
 
The image showing the 2019 remake was released first, back at D23 last year. Rumour is that it was actually an image used when Disney were going through ideas for how to retheme Splash Mountain at Disneyland California - hence the one per row seating and characters from the remake. They just decided to reuse that to give an idea of how the Paris ride might look.

Since then they have confirmed that the Paris ride will be themed based on the 1994 original.

They've only just finalized the design about a week ago from what I've heard, I remember someone pointed out that the Lion King concept art is literally traced over a piece of concept art for splash mountain haha, but considering the project has been very very slightly scaled down in the past few months they didn't really have an accurate concept art to display, the model shown in this newest video is the finished version of the ride
 
So we just got home from our first visit to Disneyland Paris.

Firstly thank you to everyone who helped out with the planning! It couldn't have gone better.

Honestly, it was the most magical theme park trip yet. I'm glad my son happily enjoys rides anywhere because my wife and i both said we don't know how we can go back to the UK theme parks after this. Europe really is spoilt with high quality theme parks (and we haven't even been to Germany yet) and the UK desperately needs Universal to come and shake things up.

Tower of Terror is probably the best theme park ride i've ever been on... it was definitely my wife's and my son loved it too. Just incredible, from the theming, the cast members, to the actual ride itself. I'm desperate to know how it works but i'm not going to look as it's even better for it to remain a mystery.

Big Thunder Mountain was heavily under construction, which was a shame as it looks so good but they at least looked very busy!

My son's favourites were Space Mountain, Avengers, Star Tours and Tower of Terror. But he liked lots of others too, it was so nice to be in a park that had so much for him, rather than in the UK where there only end up being a couple of rides per park.

I will say the coasters are all quite.... similar. Basically get thrown about in the dark a lot with varying degrees of head banging, from mild (Crush) to severe (Avengers). They're still really cool rides (we did Space Mountain 3 times per day) and the operations are incredible but I must say Efteling definitely has the upper hand on smooth coasters.

Operations everywhere in fact are amazing. Constantly moving queues, multiple staff members everywhere batching, no empty seats anywhere and not a single ride went down at any point on our trip... bliss!!

Anyway i realise this is turning into a trip report and i could happily gush all day but a couple of questions instead:

1. Does Frozen have an opening date or is it just 2026 at this point?
2. Presume Lion King doesn't even have a date yet?
3. Am i getting old or are the dark rides very.... dark? I struggled to see on some of the rides such as Phantom Manor.

Same here. If your only experience of theme parks is in the UK, European mainland options will blow you away.

And I think Xmas at DLP is even better.

1. As far as I'm aware there is no definitive date except "coming 2026". Though management will be keen to get Frozen and Studios Parc [newly named "Disney Adventure World"] ready for DLP 35th Anniversary [12 April 2027].
2. LK, as far as I'm aware is just very early conception stages.
3. I didn't have a problem with lighting in PM; but it has been recently refurbished [which was completed around late Nov '24].

Not much in it from our location plus a drive that long is a bit stressful. If it was direct I think we could do door to door in under 4 hours vs approx 7 hours driving.

Although on the outbound train Eurostar did text me to say our inbound was cancelled so that was fun. On the plus side when they saw my son was disabled they upgraded us to First!
