I know it's on its last legs, but Ripsaw has been in the valley so long now (18 years!!) for me it would just be wrong to see it in any other part of the park.
I genuinely would rather see it leave the park completely than be stuck next to The Smiler complete with garish new paint job and some contrived back story nonsense to do with the Ministry of Joy.
And let's face it even after refurbishment they would never run it properly again, it's too old and well.....Merlin.

Definitely agree with this. If gloomy wood can have toilets with only one ride then a block near the Mine Train would work. Not sure this would be top of the to do list though.Surely theres a need for some propper toilets at Explorers Pasta & Pizza soon. Its a fair walk to the nearest ones and if you are eating theres often a queue in the restraunt

The 2016 season should be in my opinion:
If the park have any sense they should not look to add any rides, but look to add shows, revamp what they have and have a good strong reliable season without any drama's, putting this year into the distant past. I would then look for 2017 to have a major new ride (SW8) and maybe 2 flats.
They haven't added a flat since submission in 2001 (so in 2017 that would be 16 years) hoping for two flats AND a secret weapon, I very much doubt that we'd see this. At most, we will see a cheap children's ride.I would then look for 2017 to have a major new ride (SW8) and maybe 2 flats.
As for the rest of your post @JB1985, I would love to see the whole park revamped, but it really doesn't bring in the GP. It will bring guests back in the long term, but I don't think a long term investment is really the route merlin want to go down after a major profit loss, and a new (budget eating) attraction just around the corner.

Appreciate your comments, however I am in vain hoping this gives them the kick up the arse the business needs. My opinions are stated, although realistically probably wont happen

I think without the Smiler accident we might have seen some great years ahead of us at towers. But now they have released a profit warning and also expect next year to be quieter than normal, I think we will see a few years of lower investments than we might have.
Next year we will just see food loop and the new Air. Then maybe a flat ride or another kids ride the year after.

See thats my thoughts on next year, some good sprucing up of the place. However 2017 is going to need to be big to bring people back
Why not. Putting back a major attraction is the worst thing they can do. Merlin may have had a massive drop in profits, but they will easily have enough for sw8Unlikely to see SW8 until atleast 2018 now, Heide park look set to get the high Investment in 2017 (a year earlier than the normal 4 year cycle) along with Chessington.

Depends on what they are planning for SW8.Why not. Putting back a major attraction is the worst thing they can do. Merlin may have had a massive drop in profits, but they will easily have enough for sw8
In the Merlin Sales update presentation from 17th sept, it highlights future capex, 2015 is listed as Garda Land, 2016 as Thorpe Park and 2017 as Heide Park and Chessington. It is therefor highly unlikly we will see a major investment in 2017 at Alton. Merlin unlikely to to have more than two parks with a high capex in 2017 (most years it is just one resort theme park with a high cap ex except once every 4 years when Chessington get theres) Obviously things change but at this stage looking likely that Heide park will be getting there next high investment a year earlier with Altons delayed a year.
